It brings us IMMENSE PLEASURE to announce that as of Sunday morning October 28, 2012, at 7:30 AM, we were officially "SOLD OUT" for Epic Ultras Flagship Event, the 19th Annual FlatRock 50 & 25K's to be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013!  Yes, 11 months in advance to race day and we were "SOLD OUT!!!"

A HUGE SHOUT OUT and MASSIVE THANK YOU to all entrants who got registered and helped us raise another $1,000 for Gallant Few...your prompt action has guaranteed you a spot in Kansas' Oldest Trail Ultra and an "epic experience" like no other!

If you really wanted to participate, but didn't get registered in time, please know that we have activated our "waiting list" feature here on Ultra Signup and strongly encourage you to get on it NOW as we will be pulling names in the order received, if spots become available, along with accepting several extra entrants between now and the end of August 2013 to allow for race day attrition.

Thanks again to all of you who took "immediate action" and helped us achieve our goal of raising another $1,000 for Gallant Few, while SELLING OUT our little "fun-runs" down here in Southeast Kansas...YOU ROCK!!!

START & TIME LIMIT:

50K / 7:30 AM start; 10-hour time limit • 25K / 8:30 AM start; 9-hour time limit

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Elk River Hiking Trail. Accurately measured forest trail winding through unique limestone bluffs, rock formations & picturesque vistas. Mostly single-track, out & back, very rocky, no long hills.

AID STATIONS:

9 Aid Stations in the 50K--5 fully-stocked with water, electrolyte drink & snack-type foods, 4 water only. 3 Aid Stations in the 25K--2 fully stocked, 1 water only. Approximate distance between aid stations is 3.5 miles with no distance greater than 4 miles between aid stations in either event.

CHECK-IN (Staging Area):

Race headquarters will be located in the Outlet Channel Group Shelter (north side of the Elk City Lake dam). Packet pick-up will be held from 3-6 PM on Friday evening September 27th, 2013. Immediately followed by an “eat until you can hardly walk” pasta dinner. Late packet pick-up Saturday Morning, September 28th, 2013 from 6-8 AM. POST-RACE:

Midwestern-style chili & watermelon feed will be held from 11-7 PM on Saturday evening September 28th in the Outlet Channel Group Shelterhouse. Knighting ceremony of "FlatRock Hall of Pain" inductees will begin at 6:30 PM (if applicable).

AWARDS:

First overall male & female in each event.  Special 19th Annual Commemorative Belt Buckles to 50K finishers (guaranteed only to 50K finishers who register by July 31, 2013), plus unique awards to all 25K finishers. “FlatRock Hall of Pain” lifetime cloth race bibs to ten-consecutive year finishers.

LODGING:

Campsites (with & without electricity) & showers are available near starting line (Army Corps of Engineers/620-336-2741). Motels in Independence are approximately 7 miles away (Independence Chamber of Commerce 620-331-1890).

MEALS:

All entrants are entitled to 2 scrumptious meals...the pre-race pasta dinner on Friday evening & the post-race chili feed on Saturday afternoon/evening. One guest (per paid entrant) will be served free; additional guests are $10 each for either meal.

There are several different ways to get to the Outlet Channel Shelterhouse (Staging Area) depending upon which direction you are coming from. Please click on the link below to open a Google Map where you can get specific directions to the Outlet Channel Shelterhouse.  If you have never been to FlatRock before we highly recommend allowing a little extra drive time, especially if you plan on driving in the morning of the race.
