Start/finish are both at Kane Creek Trail head parking lot. All events, the 6.5, 9.5, & 15.5 milers, will start together at 8:00 am. Runners will run on Kane Creek dirt road approximately 1.25 miles to the Amasa Back trail head. Runners will then drop down a steep rocky technical four wheel drive road into Kane Creek. Crossing Kane Creek (there may be water) runners will start a long technical climb to the first overlook, which is approximately 3 miles from the start line. Once runners have crested the first overlook they will run about 1 mile to the first aid station at the Jackson Hole/Amasa Back Junction, this will be 4 miles. 6.5 mile runners will veer right and head down the fast 2 mile technical single track back to the finish line. The 14.5 runners will veer left and head down Jacob's Ladder a 600ft descent off of the Amasa plateau to make a 4mi loop counter clockwise around Jackson's Butte. Then those runners will ascend (600ft in 1/4mi!) Jacob's Ladder back up onto the Amasa plateau to the aid station once again. After leaving the A/S they will follow the 9.5 miles course to the finish line.
The 9.5 runners will head up still continuing up Amasa Back to the Amasa Back/Rock Stacker Junction, approximately 1 mile from the aid station. Now runners will continue onto Rock Stacker and enjoy the fast single track, slick rock terrain, amazing views of Dead Horse Point and the mighty Colorado River just below them. All runners will be impressed by the spectacular views of the Colorado River corridor, Behind the Rocks and the majestic snow capped La Sal Mountain range.
