Course

The Camp Croft Challenge is held at the beautiful Croft State Park in upstate South Carolina. Once and Army training base and POW camp, runners will complete 3 laps along Foster Mill Loop and Lake Johnson Loop, through Croft's historical grounds. The trail is a mix of single track, double track and soft dirt road. There are no major climbs and with the exception of rainfall, feet should stay dry. Runners will pass both Lake Johnson and Lake Craig, cross over historical Kelsey Creek, pass remnants of the training camp and old cemetery sites.

Water and aid can be obtained upon the completion of each 8.9 mile loop. A secondary water station will be located approximately halfway along the course.

Timing / Awards

The race will begin at 8am on July 30th with a 7 hour cut-off. All registered runners will receive a custom race singlet. All runners who complete 3 laps within 7 hours will have their official time recorded. Finishers will receive a custom medal. Awards will be given to each 1st-3rd overall male and female.

Directions / Parking

For GPS purposes: 450 Croft State Park Rd, Spartanburg, SC. Upon arrival at the park, please obtain a park pass and pay $2 (per adult) park fee. Stay on Croft State Park Rd for approximately 3 miles and follow remaining signs to race parking and runner check in.

Packet Pick-up / Runner Check In

Packet pick-up will be Friday from 3-5 at a to be announced location and race morning from 7-745am at runner check in. Runner check in will be located in the primitive campsites of the park, runners can follow signs from the entrance. Please have ID ready at packet pick-up. Runners can not obtain another runners packet. For safety purposes, runners that pick up their packet on Friday will also need to check in Saturday morning no later than 745. There will be no race day registration.

Race Rules

*Only registered runners can compete. Bib transfers are not authorized without prior approval.


*Runner bibs must be visible at all times on course.


*Check in Saturday, no later than 745am, is mandatory.


*Runners must stay on the marked course and complete each lap in its entirety.


*All runners are required to have water (or selected fluid) at all times on the course. It will be hot.


*Be respectful to other runners, staff, and park property.


*For the safety of the race, staff, and all parties involved, runners that are injured or not physically capable of completing the race will be pulled from the course.


*A violation of race rules could result in disqualification as well as being banned from future events. The Race Director and acting staff has the final say.


*There will be no refunds. Transfers and drops will be accepted until registration closing. All others will be recorded as a DNS.
