Please join us for the 2017 edition of the Marquette Trail 50 Ultramarathon Race Weekend in Michigan's Upper Peninsula!

The Marquette Trail 50 consists of a 50-kilometer and 50-mile event. For an added challenge, back by popular demand, a 100K distance starting in the middle of the night. The 100K has a special application process, as racers will need to communicate their experience and preparation.

The course is mostly single-track, climbing the 4 peaks: Sugarloaf, Top-of-the-World, Bareback, and Hogsback. All the Peaks have views of Lake Superior, and portions of the course skirt its shoreline. Much of the trail consists of moderate to difficult terrain with some very significant climbs and technical areas.

According to Ultrarunning Magazine, the course is rated 3 out of 5 for Terrain ("Hilly"), and 4 out of 5 for Surface ("Trail with substantial rocks, roots and/or ruts").

Not ready for a solo ultra? Then consider forming a team and run the 50K ultramarathon team relay, which follows the same course as the solo events.

We will also be hosting trail races for kids on Friday evening at the Forestville Noquemanon Trailhead. Check out the Kids page on our event website for more details.

Not running this year, but would like to participate? We have plenty of volunteer opportunities. Click VOLUNTEER on our race website for details...{We have exceptional volunteer incentives, including earning a complimentary entry for future use.} Happy Trails!

100k Application

An application is required to participate in the 100K event. Entrants must submit a Top 10 reasons for doing the race:

One reason must be a tough, qualifying event (like the Marquette Trail 50-mile race).

Another reason must be some type of volunteer hours giving back to the ultra-community (working an aid station, trail maintenance, staffing a race, etc.).

Other reasons can be as serious or silly as you wish. You will submit your application via e-mail after registration. The registration confirmation e-mail will have directions on where to submit your "top 10" application. You will be placed in a waiting list until your application is reviewed. If your application is accepted, you will be entered in the 100K race and your credit card will be charged. If you sign up on Black Friday, you will get $25 off the registration fee.
