These races are now individual races and if you do all 3 you are in the SHATS trail series. The new names are Little Blackfoot 10k/20k, Dark Knight 5k, and Ridge Rumble. Race 1 - Goats in the Meadow - Aug. 20, 2022

Race #1 begins at the Blackfoot Meadows trailhead southwest of Helena. This out-and-back course (pictured above) is the longest of the SHATS series at 15k with mostly rolling hills and short climbs. You'll cross a creek, run through the forest, and be rewarded with a nice view of the meadow at the top. Wildlife sightings are not unusual here and this course is a favorite of SHATS runners each year!

Race 2 - Goats in the Dark - Sept. 9, 2022

Race #2 is a NIGHT race and is the shortest of the series (5k). The course starts on the upper west side of Helena with a short road section before climbing up the Tubbs Trailhead for a loop on Mount Helena's western side. This is a popular event that attracts runners or walkers of all ages.

Race 3 - Goat Pursuit - Sept. 25, 2022

Race #3 is approx. 10k and is run in time-trial format, in which a runner starts every minute with slower runners starting first. The race begins at the Mt. Helena Ridge trailhead south of Helena and ends at the Dump Gulch trailhead on Grizzly Gulch Road near the city limits.

Race 4 - Goat Grind - Oct. 9, 2022

Race #4, the series finale, takes place in the Elkhorn Mountains approximately 15 miles SE of Helena. This 4-mile loop has some tough climbs and fast descents as well as a creek crossing and beautiful fall scenery. It's all worth it for the series award ceremony, great prize drawings and BREAKFAST afterward. Don't miss it!
