The Berryman Trail is located in the Mark Twain National Forest about half way between Steelville and Potosi, Missouri. The nearest major airport is located in St. Louis, an approximately 2-hour drive.
From St. Louis: Take Highway 44 west to the Cuba exit. Take Highway 19 south from Cuba to Steelville, then Highway 8 East to Washington County’s Berryman Road. Look for the Forest Service sign on your right and turn left on Berryman Road. The campground and shelter will be on the left, approximately 1 mile north of Highway 8.
(Note: There are 2 roads named Berryman Road. The Crawford County Berryman road is all gravel and before the town of Berryman and is NOT the road to Berryman campground. You are looking for the paved road located about 2 miles east of the tiny town of Berryman that is marked with a Forest Service sign for the Berryman Hiking and Riding Area.)
Alternate route from St. Louis: Take Highway 21 to Potosi, then Highway 8 West from Potosi and turn right on Berryman Road.
