Come join us at BRANDY Creek beach, WHISKEYtown Park, under a FULL MOON, for the first annual Moonshine Trail Race! The 3.5M and 7M will finish before it gets really dark (10PM) but the 15M runners will "start in the light, finish at night". The races get harder as the distances get longer so choose accordingly.
And while you are running, your friends and family will not be bored as they enjoy the beauty and opportunites at Brandy Creek Beach.
The 3.5M goes gently uphill for the first half and downhill for the second. Up Shasta Bally Road to the Brandy Creek Campground, then back on the Brandy Creek Trail.
The 7M follows the rolling lakeshore Davis Gulch Trail for 3+ miles, then has a big steep climb (1 mile, a bit shorter than last year) in the middle followed by a fun descent. Carry a water bottle.
The 15M is the tough one: Up the Brandy Creek trail toward Brandy Creek Falls, then up and down the Rich Gulch trail, up and over the gnarly Salt Gulch trail, southeast on the Peltier Trail and north on the Kanaka Peak Loop Trail then northwest on Peltier Valley Road to Panther Gap, south on the scenic Monarch Mountain trail and a new gentler finish this year- down the power line road back to the Brandy Creek Trail. Carry a water bottle. Two water stations at approximately mile 5 and 10. Flashlight required: Start in the light, finish at night! A great opportunity to sample night running! All 3 races finish in the lake!
