This inaugural event is the first in the city to encourage competitors to run with their dogs! The newest trail course in town utilizes Dupont Park in a new and exciting way. Whether your fitness level is for a half marathon, 9k, or 5k we offer it all! So you can take on whatever level of challenging outdoor activity you and your canine enjoy. A noted Chattanooga runner, Randy Whorton, and his comrades at Wild Trails, have designed this safe, unique off-road course. They have made sure it is a fun and innovative experience and the day will be a memorable one for you to spend bonding with your dog. The half-marathon is the competative leg of this race and dogs must be off-leash and trained in order to compete.
If you are not a competative runner, but enjoy spending time outdoors with your dog, you are welcome to take a stroll or a jog on the walking paths at the DuPont Plant with your companion (on a leash) and join in all the fun and excitement of the event at the pace you prefer. Watch for all of the adoptable animals that will be competing for new homes during the event. Maybe the best part of the day will be finding a new companion to share your life.
Everyone will want to stay for the Cool Down and enjoy a family style picnic of hamburgers or veggie burgers, grilled to order, and all the trimmings plus adult and family beverages for ticket holders. This race is the beginning of a fun-filled weekend celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the McKamey Animal Center.
