Entry Procedures/Qualification:

The 2015 SD 100 is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2015 starting at 6:00 am PDT from Lake Cuyamaca Recreation Area near Julian, CA. 

Qualification for the 2015 event requires applicants to have completed an official 50 mile run in under 13 hours within the qualification period of January 1, 2013 to January 1, 2015.  Completion of any official 100 mile or 100K during this two year time period will also serve as a qualifier.  Registration for the 2015 race will open on January 1, 2015 and applications will be accepted for four days. Following the 4-day registration period a lottery will be held to select the 250 entrant field and an ordered wait list. Results of the lottery (and wait list) will be posted on January 6, 2015.

Changes for 2015 Event:

Several important changes are implemented for the 14th Annual SD 100 in order to maintain a field of 250 runners and acquire applicable permits. All runners need to understand and accept the rule changes prior to registering for the lottery. These changes are necessitated due to the number of support, crew, and pacer vehicles that cannot safely be accommodated with a 250 entrant field. All rule changes will be updated on the event web site but key changes include:

1. Pacers are only allowed to accompany the last 44 miles of the course with their runner; from Penny Pines 2 to the finish. Pacers will only be able to be dropped off at Penny Pines 2 since there is limited parking and this is a no crew access checkpoint.


Each runner will only be allowed one crew vehicle. This restriction will be strictly enforced. Crews will be able to park additional cars and carpool (in one vehicle) from Sunrise 1. Any runner who has more than one vehicle meet them at any aid stations (other than Sunrise 1) faces potential disqualification.


3. The race will encourage and recognize (with special awards) runners who compete in the Solo Division which means the runner is self sufficient with no Pacer or Crew to assist. Solo Runners will have special bibs and rely on drop bags for their special needs.

Description:

The San Diego 100 course is a 90% single track mountain course which covers four recreational areas in the east county mountains of San Diego. The 2015 start and finish area are located at the south parking area of Lake Cuyamaca Recreational Area.  The course includes trails traversing sections of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), Noble Canyon, the Cuyamaca and the Anza Borrego State Parks, and Mt Laguna Recreational Areas. A very challenging course with approximately 26,000' feet of total elevation change (13k climb & 13k descent) with a 32 hour time limit. Selected runners must agree to the strictly enforced limit of one crew vehicle which includes any pacers that are helping the runner.

The 2014 race start and finish area is located at north parking of Lake Cuyamaca Recreation Area which is located 9 miles southwest of Julian, CA on state Hwy 79. See race web site for lodging details.

SOLO Division

Beginning with the 2015 race, we will institute a Solo Division to recognize all runners who opt to run the entire race without the support of a crew or pacers. All finishing Solo runners will receive special awards. Solo runners will have to rely on their drop bags and the aid stations for all support. Solo runners are allowed to run with other registered runners but must rely on themselves throughout the entire race.
