We're hosting both a 50 mile and 100 mile event this year, with the 50 mile event starting at 5AM on Saturday morning, and the official cutoff at 7PM the same day. This gives a 14 hr duration to the 50 miler making it a great "first time" 50! The 100 miler starts Friday morning at 7AM, with the cutoff 36 hrs later at 7PM on Saturday evening. This makes it possible for both 100 mile and 50 mile finishers to be coming into the finish at the same time making for a more festive party at the finish (50 milers are almost always more coherent at the finish)!
The course starts at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway, and runs the same section of Salt Flats that the land-speed records are set each year at "Speedweek". After 13 miles of salt, the runners connect up with the "Islands", mountain peaks that rise out of the salt and seem to float like islands on a white sea. Runners will run along rolling hills and connect four significant climbs along the remainder of the course, and the 100 milers will even cross into Nevada where the Donner-Reed Party left Utah on their way to their fateful encounter with the harsh Sierra Nevada Mountains. The course finishes back at the start where plenty of salt awaits those who need a little electrolyte boost.
Mens Overall, Women's Overall, and age category winners for both Men and Women (Under 25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, and 66 ).
