Race History

Race Director Sean "Run Bum" Blanton has a vision: Design fun and beautiful courses to run on and people will come.

"In Atlanta and throughout the south, I see race directors putting on events within proximity of big cities. This is to draw big numbers's and make money. HOWEVER, I want to put on the most visually pleasing races; I want people to get out and away from the city. I want them to see what I have seen. Helen is a great place. You have the Appalachian Trail that is not even 5 miles from town. You have a great city and a great get away only 90 minutes from Atlanta. We have coordinated this race to happen with the start of the holiday lights in Helen that Friday night. Bring the family out take the kids around this Bavarian alpine-style town and run the Helen Holiday Half Marathon the next day. Then stay for a good meal and some good beer. Sunday relax and maybe go for a hike with the family in Unicoi or along the Appalachian Trail. Its just a great place to be! Fast runners, slow runners, young runners, and old runners alike will all enjoy this course! I hope this race is the inspiration for some people to start running. A huge thanks goes out to Hunter Kipps, Erin Hannen, Jason Green, Unicoi State Park and the City of Helen for making this happen. DO EPIC SH*T!"

As you can tell Sean is excited, as are we. We hope to see all of you guys November 30th!
Please email with any questions.
