Course Description

A mix of single & double track trail with some technical rocky sections. This is wild horse country. If you don't run into some wild horses, you will definitely run into some wild horse manure! Previous routes for both distances have been lollipop loops. This year will be different, again! As usual with this series, the 5K will stay as close to a 5K as we can no matter what the conditions are. The 10K+ will get stretched out a little further if conditions are favorable. I still have not decided on a course route yet for either distance. I have some things in mind but we will have to see what the weather does this week. There will most likely be some off trail excursions so bring your sense of adventure with you on race day! Re-check often for updates this week at this site, our website, Facebook or Twitter.

Update 1/7/16

Ola El Nino! Well this mornings snow as a surprise and changed what I was thinking of doing, again. I ran out there today and found out I have to change my exit strategy, save it for another year. Due to that, the constantly changing weather and what is predicted for Saturdays forecast I am going to be winging it Saturday morning marking the courses so course distances will not be accurate. The 5K course will be longer than a 5K. I am guessing it will be 3.5-4 miles. The 10K+ course might not have much plus but I'll see what I can do to stretch it out a little further. There will be minimal to no single track involved because it is all snow covered and has not been tracked out so it is difficult to follow. Both courses will be predominately on double track which will be easier to follow. The courses themselves won't be easy, but they should be easy to follow. Remember to bring your bib #'s if you have already run an event in this seasons series.

Update 1/8/16

With above freezing temps the snow is slowly melting which should open up some trail options for the 10K+. The wild horses have been hanging out in the area so there should be great opportunities to see large groups of them. Bring dry clothes to change into after the run. There will hot coffee, tea and hot chocolate to drink afterward.
