An urban ultra to start spring off with a bang. This event near Knoxville, Tennessee, has quickly become very popular, always filling before the registration closes. With distances from about 10 to 100 miles, there's something for everyone.

Runners score some great swag and enjoy an optional tasty pre-race pasta dinner, and are pampered by some really nice volunteers, lots of heated aid station support, camaraderie with plenty of other crazy ultra runners, and some really cool finishers awards. This is a great race for first time and seasoned ultra runners alike. Walkers are welcome too. We’re here to have a good time!
This event helps to raise funds for two very worthy and needy local charities: The Alcoa Educational Foundation, and the Blount County Parks and Rec Scholarship Fund for youth enrichment. By registering, you are helping to make a positive difference for these worthy children and young adults.
The course is a fairly flat, paved, generally eight foot wide greenway that is lit at night time. For those who prefer a softer surface, there is grass along side some of the trail. It meanders along the Pistol Creek (hence the name for the event), through Alcoa, by several small bodies of water, and over to Maryville's Bicentennial Greenbelt Park. It is a linear route with a lollipop at both ends and is a bit over 5 miles long.
We’ll start at the beautiful, new Alcoa High School (1205 Lodge Street, Alcoa, TN) and run south about 4.5 miles and return to the start; then continue north about a half mile and return back to start. The 50K/100K loops will all be the same (10.35 miles). The 50ker's will do this loop three time and the 100ker's six times.The 50 mile/100 mile loops will be slightly shorter (10 miles), with the 50 milers doing them five times and the hundo runners ten times. The event features a very generous 30 hour cut-off for the 50K, 100K, and hundo. The nighttime 50 mile race starts at 8 PM Saturday with an 18 hour cut-off.
CHECK THIS AWARD OUT! The uber cool double barrel pistol on a stand with a customized name plate will be awarded to those who complete either the 50K, 100K, or 100 mile starting Saturday morning, AND the 50 miler Saturday night! Simply register separately for both distances and we'll do the rest.
The Foothills Striders will be hosting the main aid station/warming area at the start/finish. Then the famous Woody aid station (it will be heated too) will be about a half mile from the end of the 4.5 mile southern section. This means you'll pass an aid station every 4 miles or less. How easy is that?!
Plan to arrive Friday afternoon for the check-in, swag bag pick-up, the expo, the (almost) mandatory meeting featuring a noted guest speaker, and other pre-race contests and activities. It will be inside the large heated school commons/auditorium area. The optional pasta dinner (vegetarian option) will be in the adjacent school cafeteria. If interested, be sure to choose the quantity of meal tickets you want to purchase during registration check-out.
The indoor restrooms will REALLY be nice too! There is space in front of the school where you can set up your own personal support. Can't get any better for winter race!
