Hello Super Runners!
Altis Endurance Sports hopes everyone is running well as we close out Presidents Day!
I send some info on the third annual Shelby Forest Loop Marathon and Half Marathon set for this Sunday.
Race web page: https://altisendurance.com/events/shelby-forest-loop-marathon-and-half
Race start/finish: The race start/finish is at/near 736 Piersol Road Millington, TN about 7 tenths of a mile past the Meeman Shelby Forest Park Visitor Center. On the off chance that your GPS device can't find the race start/finish address I note that the park visitor center address is 910 Riddick Road Millington, TN. A map of the roads leading to the start/finish can be seen at https://altisendurance.com/events/shelby-forest-loop-marathon-and-half#directions
There is no park entry fee, and there is plenty of parking at the race start/finish.
Saturday night packet pickup and last minute race registration time/location: Three Guys Pizza Pies from 5:30-6:30PM at 9045 HWY 64, STE 105 Memphis, TN 38016. Come join Frank and I for some great pizza!
Packet Pickup and late registration race morning: 7:15AM-8:30AM at the start/finish
Marathon Start Time: 8:00AM
Half Marathon Start Time: 8:30AM
Miscellaneous: The usual ultra and trail race food will be provided at the aid stations, ie. cookies, chips, candies, water, and Gatorade. It is recommended that runners bring their own energy gels and electrolytes to the race as needed/desired. There are still a few race slots open if your running friends would like to join us for a day of fun and good running! As I write this there are 41 half marathon entrants and 35 marathon entrants in the race. The weather forecast currently calls for start temps in the mid 40s with the temps reaching the 60s in the afternoon; rain is possible. All runners are welcome to have a drop bag at the finish line aid station. There is an aid station every mile on the course. The new race finisher award looks great! An image of the award artwork can be seen on the race web page. Please ensure your race number is visible to the fantastic race volunteers. The race bib numbers that Altis uses are the smallest available and can easily fit on running shorts; the left leg of your shorts would be a great place to pin your race bib number. May all of you seeking a BQ find success on Sunday!
