The course consists of 3 loops around St. Mary's River Park (approx. 10.5 miles each). Runners have the option of completing one or two loops, or three loops for the full 50K distance. Since the runners will pass through the parking lot after each loop, there will be an option for a drop bag to be left either in the participant's vehicle or next to the aid station set up in the parking lot.
The trails are singletrack and mostly runnable with some technical sections with tree roots. All water crossings have bridges and most of the way offers a beautiful view of the dammed river. Some minor hills, but no significant elevation change. The surface of the trail is mostly packed dirt, but there are a few sandy sections and a half mile of rocky terrain. Most of the course is marked with blazes and there will also be signs and markers to keep runners on course. There will be two aid stations (with toilets) located on the loop so the runners will have access about every 5 miles of their race. The aid stations will be stocked and manned by volunteers.
All registered runners who complete the 50K within the cut-off time of 8 hours will receive an award. Registered runners who complete a shorter distance will also receive a completion prize.
Due to a significant portion of single track trail, NO headphones and NO strollers. If you'd like to discuss the possibility of racing with your dog, please contact the Race Director for approval prior to race day.
