Thanks to everyone who made the comeback of the Sapper Joe Trail Race a success in 2013!I am so happy the Sapper Joe Trail Race is back. Those of you who have ran it, know you love it. Those of you who are doing it for the first time, you'll love the challenge. Looking forward to seeing you this summer! Email me at email@example.com with any questions.
The entire course will be on Camp Williams property. Race day will be the only time that the course will be open for us to run on. The course will begin on the east side of Redwood Road, near the Camp Williams parade field, then cross under Redwood Road, and enter the Camp Williams Ranges on the west side of the road. The race will then consist of single track and groomed dirt road.
Both the 30K and 50K races will follow the same route for the first 5.7 miles. At this point, the 50K will follow a larger loop, while the 30K will take a smaller loop and will meet up once more to run the last 5.8 miles along the same course back to the finish. Both races will finish on the Camp Williams parade field. The overall altitude gain in the 50K is approximately 5500 feet. The gain in the 30K is approximately 3700 feet.
Both races have been laid out by trail runners, and will expose the participants to the territory not typically accessible to non-military individuals. Both courses are challenging and interesting, providing great views of both the Salt Lake and Utah valleys.
There will be a time cutoff of nine (9) hours to complete the race.
We also offer a "generous" 15K race that will be fun, yet challenging. It will follow the same course as the other races but four miles in, it will head north across Cedar Point to Beef Hollow, where the final aid station on the course is located. It will then follow the same route back to the finish as the other races follow. We have created the 15K race for those who are new to trail running to come out and experience the joy of trail running and get a chance to run on Camp Williams property.
