The 5K course is out and back from the Hart Park running east from section 7 along the river on dirt and sand path that follows the Kern River. The course is mainly flat with a very short, quick uphill to get away from the river to the finish area in the parking lot..
•The 10 km
The 10 kilometer course starts out flat enough for the first 1.5 miles as it lazily runs along the Kern River. Don't let the easy start fool you, though. Just after the first water station, you will begin running uphill on a paved bike path, but will quickly veer off onto the dirt again. This bike path section marks the beginning of an uphill section that will continue with varying degrees of steepness for the next 1.5 miles. After a loop around an old quarry, the course begins a nice downhill through Toad's gully. The final 3/4 mile is again along the river in Hart Park.
•The 10 mile
This is definitely not the easiest 10 mile jaunt through the hills. However, if you are interested in a bit of a challenge for your quads, come on out and have some fun with us. The 4 climbs of the course are long and gradual with the majority of the downhills occurring in the final 4 miles of the course.
