Race # 1 - Chumash Trail

5 MILE COURSE: November 7, 2015. We rate this course: moderate/difficult. This is an out and back mostly single track course but the views are stunningly different in each direction.

Wide fire road quickly turns into single track trail that ascends quickly. About 1 mile in you will be running along a mountain top ridge with views in all directions.

We highly suggest you stop and take a good look (unless you are seriously competing) because this trail is uneven and very rocky.

You’ll wind up hugging a ridge to Rocky Peak and then turn that bus around and jet back to the FINISH LINE.

10 MILE INFO: We rate this course VERY DIFFICULT. Same course as 5 Mile but at Rocky Peak you go right to Old Johnson's Trail. Wide rocky fire road with majestic views to the ocean on a clear day. At Old Johnson you will go left descending to the bottom and then gut it out back up to return the same path to the start/finish.

Race # 2 Long Canyon in Wood Ranch

5 MILE COURSE: November 14, 2015: We rate this course moderate/difficult.
Steep uphill single track climb for about 1 mile breaks into a fire road for about another half mile. You cut back to a single track downhill trail with a small tree covered area switchback then another fire road stint to the beginning of the uphill climb that takes you back to the main trail. From there you’ll see the Long Canyon signpost and go hard north back down to the finish. This trail has a lot of dirt, dust and creek bed rocks (one section is called "Baby Doll" because the rocks look like actual doll heads!

10 MILE COURSE: We rate this course: DIFFICULT. Same steep uphill single track climb as the 5 mile until mile 2 where it opens up to a fire road for 2 more miles. The last mile, to Simi Peak, is single track and rocky. Some shade. Once you make it to Simi Peak you turn around and follow the same path back for 3 miles and take a left to head west UP UP UP to the top of the ridge and then bomb back to the Start/Finish Line.

Race # 3 - Marr Land / Las llajas

Saturday November 21st, 2015. - 5 MILE COURSE: We rate this course easy/moderate. This is an out-and-back course that begins on blacktop leading down to a fire road passing two water crossings (we are hoping for rain!) and remnants from the history of mining that once occurred in these parts. You run a short gravel road then it's a rolling (mostly up) wide fire road for 2 1/2 miles. Then a turn around return. The toughest part of this race is the finish UP the blacktop! This section is where you have to use everything you've got to make it to the finish line!

10 MILE COURSE: We rate this: moderate/difficult. You will ignore and blow right by the 2 ½ mile turn around (for the 5 milers) and continue to the top of the famous SHELLS section of Rocky Peak! This portion of the race has been known to suck the energy out of ones legs - bring water and properly fuel. It is exposed. You will turn around and then fly back the same path to the finish line. Beware: leave something in the tank for the final ascent on the blacktop where your friends and family AND THE FINISH LINE CHEER will be.
Saturday November 21st, 2015.

Race # 4 - Tapo Canyon Trail

4.5 MILE COURSE: December 5, 2015: We rate this course moderate. We call this the "Lollipop Run" because of the way the course looks on a map.

Wide fire road on a rising grade takes you to a “T” intersection where you hang a right and head down, down, down through a tree covered, rocky and sandy portion (look for Bambi, we think it looks like the set of a Disney film). You've got 1 water crossing (we hope it rains!) then you are onto an exposed single track that hangs LEFT at the Y" intersection (approximately mile 2). You'll have tall mountains on either side, no breeze and BAKING sun on your back (carry water!!).

At approximately Mile 3 you begin the ascent where you will have another "Y" - go left and DOWN a slight hill rolling back up to the "T" where you will go RIGHT and down again - rocky loose and epic views - to the FINISH LINE.

8.56 MILE COURSE: We rate this course moderate/difficult.
We saved the best for last! Definitely one of my most favorite runs in the Simi Hills and I’m happy to share it with you! Instead of making the sharp left turn on the bottom of the lollipop section (which is between mile 2 and 3) you’ll be heading down to the wash and turning up for a steep climb up some beautiful single track. We call this Hot Dog hill and will tell you the story about it anytime. After your climb you’ll have a fun and super technical rolling trail which is unfortunately only 1 mile. Then it’s time to get back and return home.
