What is the CMRR ?

Traditionally, the Catskill Mountain Road Race (CMRR) has been a 100K relay race, featuring 5-person teams where each teammate runs two (2) 10K segments. The event has also historically included "SuperTeams" consisting of 6-10 people, each running one or more of the 10K legs..

As the race has developed since its inception in 1992, it has also intrigued ultrarunners, and in 2011, attracted the first solo runners since the race founder ran the entire 100K himself in 1994.

Today, the CMRR, now renamed "Catskill Mountain 100K Road Race & Relay", is more than just a relay. It is still the only 100K relay race in the northeast, and the oldest relay of any distance in the region. It is also now the most challenging and scenic 100K road ultramarathon east of the Mississippi River. Ultrarunners will revel in the challenge of the course, with many gut-busting hills, and a changing landscape that will evoke wonder in the eyes and imagination of the intrepid distance runner.

Relay runners will enter as a team and self-support, as has been the tradition of this longstanding event. As of 2016, ultra runners must now also bring crews. To date, only 17 solo runners have officially completed the entire course.

However it is you decide to participate, Catskill Mountain 100K Road Race & Relay will be a day of excitement, and one you will remember for a long, long time.

Divisions

RELAY TEAM
Consisting of 3, 4 or 5 runners, who will share running legs of the 100K course. Runners may break the legs up in any way they choose to, but traditionally, runners on 5 person teams run 2 legs each.
Cost: $175

SUPERTEAM
This is a relay team consisting of 6-10 runners. Superteam runners may each run one or more legs, and in any order.
Cost: $180 for first 6 runners. $30 for each additional runner.

SOLO ULTRA RUNNER
Individuals run the entire 100K in a solo effort.
Cost: $75

Race Support

RELAY TEAMS
All registered relay teams will support themselves for the duration of the race. Although it's quite possible to support your team with just one large vehicle, two vehicles are highly recommended, as it will make for a more comfortable (and less frenetic) day in the mountains.

SOLO ULTRA RUNNERS
Because of the remote nature of the course, all 100K solo runners are now required to have a support crew, even if it's only a crew of one(1), as it makes for a more emotionally-relaxed day for you, and allows race staff to give necessary focus to the finish line. Just as with the relay teams, please have your crew car equipped all the necessary supplies of food, clothing, hydration, etc. There are general stores in Grahamsville (70K) and Sundown (80K) where you can purchase food supplies.

Awards

TEAMS
Medals given to members of 1st place teams in the following categories:

- Open
- All female
- Mixed (females must run at least 4 of the 10 legs)
- Masters (all runners must be age 40+)
- Superteam


SOLO
- 1st place awards in each gender
- Finisher medals for all who complete the course within the 15-hour time limit
