Rocky Peak Race Venue

Corriganville Park is the home camp for Rocky Peak Ultra Trail Race. Located at 7001 Smith Road, Simi Valley, CA 93063. Formerly named Corriganville Movie Ranch, the park was a working film studio and movie ranch for outdoor location shooting, as well as a Western-themed tourist attraction. The ranch, owned by actor and stuntman Ray "Crash" Corrigan, is located in the foothills of the Santa Susana Mountains in the Santa Susana Pass area of Simi Valley in eastern Ventura County, California. The site is currently a public park in the City of Simi Valley, called Corriganville Park, and operated by Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.

Close to Hollywood, Malibu and downtown Los Angeles, this is the perfect locale for a get-away weekend that includes some awesome time on the trails!

History of Rocky Peak Ultra Trail Race

In 2009, Randy and Sarita Shoemaker established the Bandit Ultra Trail Run in the beautiful and historic mountains at Rocky Peak, Simi Valley, CA. 2016 was the final Bandit race but the history lives on under the leadership of Trail Run Events and New Basin Blues Running Club. The name has changed but the spirit of the Bandit can be found lingering in the canyons and boulders of Rocky Peak Ultra Trail Race.

Trail Run Events & New Basin Blues Running Club

The Rocky Peak Ultra Trail Race is co-managed by New Basin Blues Running Club and by Trail Run Events, LLC who also produce the Bulldog 50K & 25K Trail Runs. Rocky Peak Ultra Trail Race will benefit the 501c3 New Basin Blues High School XC Shoe Program. Since 2001, the club has raised money to purchase brand new running shoes for local high school students for their xc season. When you run the Rocky Peak race, you will enjoy seeing many of the kids who benefit from this program volunteering at the race and we are happy to have them participate as their way of giving back.

Thanks to Bandit Ultra Trail Races

We want to thank Randy & Sarita Shoemaker and the Bandit Race Committee for their support and confidence in handing the reins over to Trail Run Events and New Basin Blues who will co-direct the new race. All of the work to develop an ultra race in this location is due to the effort of the Shoemakers and the Race Committee. Some of the text description of the races and race courses as well as photos and maps are provided by permission of the Bandit Races.

Parking & Carpooling

Parking fees are included in your race entry. Due to limited space for parking, please CARPOOL with friends!

50K Ultra Run Course Description

The 50K race begins in Corriganville with a one-mile loop in the park before heading up the steep Corriganville trail to Rocky Peak and over to Chumash. Chumash converges with Evening Sky then intersects with the Marr Land/Las Llajas Trailhead. It is a short wide, paved fire road to the bottom of Hot Dog Hill linking you to the southern side of Tapo Open Space Trail loop which takes you to Marr Land. Follow Marr Land east to Rocky Peak where the Corriganville trail takes you steeply back down to Corriganville Park and the Finish Line. The grueling terrain inspires the true grit spirit an endurance runner has right from the start with a 1.85 mile rise (from 1,115' elevation to 2,400') that carries on to a total of 3,750'. In the end, you will have run up hill close to 12,000 ' (that's about 2.25 miles)! You will be climbing four peaks (elevation change of 6,000') 60% fire roads and 40% single track trails.
