Experience the beauty and history of one of Kentucky’s prettiest properties at the Hot Hot Hundred. Held on a private tree farm just north of Morehead, KY the Hot Hot Hundred is a 10k looped course. Runners have the option of a single 10k lap or a 1- to 5-person team 100k relay.
Battle the intense heat and your urge to give up as you encounter steep off-trail ascents, plummeting descents, and a wide variety of plan and animal wildlife. You’ll find great views from the ridgeline above and the valley below. Pass by old homestead sites and even grab some wild blackberries and blueberries that grow right along the course!
Our start and finish line base camp will have a full aid station all day long along with full use of a large and rustic barn for shelter or taking a break from the summer sun courtesy of our hosts from Hutton-Loyd Tree Farm. Bring your family or friends as we’ll have additional activities going on all day!
Face your fears, fight the heat, and take on what is sure to be one of the toughest challenges you’ve faced: Kentucky’s Hot Hot Hundred.
Teams can be as few as ONE or as many as FIVE runners!!!!
We will enforce a strict 18 hour cut-off for the 100k relay. All teams must finish the race by 2am on Sunday morning!
The Hot Hot Hundred is a 10k loop around Hutton-Loyd Tree Farm just north of Morehead, KY. This gorgeous property is a green valley surrounded on three sides by a steep, wooded ridge. We'll run up, down, and all around the entire farm!
100k relay racers will run 10 full laps. Our base camp barn will be fully stocked for you to refuel and recharge after the race and between laps. You’ll find everything on this course: a little bit of gravel road (don’t roll those eyes!), wide off road tracks, technical single track, and even a nice little 400’ off trail ascent in the first half mile.
One loop of the Hot Hot Hundred course is 6.2 miles with 1,460 feet of elevation gain and equal descent. Relay racers: You can do the math!
All participants receive a shirt.
All finishers will receive a hand made award crafted from a tree located on the farm.
Top three 10k men and women and each member of the winning relay team receive a special placer award.
Q: I've never done a trail race before. Can I do this?
A: Hell yeah! You can do anything if you prepare properly. It's going to be HOT, and the course is very challenging. However, no one will be doing more than 10k in a single stretch; and we will have plenty of aid. It's going to be insanely hard. You're going to want to quit before you see the finish line. But you can do this!
Q: What will the weather be like?
A: HOT and muggy.
Q: Will I get wet?
A: You'll get soaked but mostly from your own sweat. There are a couple of small stream crossings, but they will be mostly dried up by race day.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Unfortunately, no. We love our pups, but due to USATF sanction requirements and our insurance policies pets are not allowed at the race site for the duration of the event.

In 2016 we will be adding a Kids One Mile Run. The Kids One Miler is open to kids 12 and younger. We encourage everyone to bring the entire family out to the tree farm for the Hot Hot Hundred. We party ALL DAY, and now your kids have a chance to compete. The kids run is a flat, one mile race around the lower valley where they can see all the beautiful green that makes the property so special. The course is a mix of gravel and grass/dirt paths. It does not go up into the woods like the 100k relay or 10k. Come and party with us!
