San Jose Trail Run

Race Day Registration
- We will have race day registration (((add $15))). CASH or CHECK only. Race Day Registrants must pick up shirt after race. Shirt size and specific style not guaranteed, but you will get a shirt.

Welcome to the San Jose Trail Run. Pacific Coast Trail Runs is proud to share another combination of parks: Calero County Park & Rancho Canada Del Oro. This is part of our continued effort to share new trail running experiences with our community. We picked March so that you can enjoy the glorious colors of green and early spring bloom. You can be assured that temperatures will be perfect for trail running. The event is located in the South San Jose region near Quicksilver County Park and adjoining Calero Reservoir. Enjoy rolling hills with valley views and plenty of single track trail running. Calero County Park is part of the Santa Clara County Parks system which we have many events at. Rancho Canada Del Oro is part of the Open Space Authority - Santa Clara County which preserves key portions of the natural environment in order to balance continuing urban growth.

All finishers will receive a finishers medal. All entrants will be guaranteed their race shirt requested size if registered by March 18th. At check-out you will have a choice between a "tech shirt" or "cotton blend shirt". All participants will be able to enjoy the post-race BBQ. Purchase additional tickets for $10 at check out. Vegetarian options available.

Please do not enter Calero Reservoir Boat Launch Area. While this area connects to the property you will be running on, it's not the start/finish area. Continue South East past this shall you go by.

You will find that you will be able to park right at the start/finish area. For those arriving later, you may find yourself up to a ¼ mile away.

Time Limit & Cut-Offs
- There is a 9 HOUR TIME LIMIT for all distances
- The course for all three distances starts and finishes at Calero County Park near the ranger station. All events will run over to the parking lot of Rancho Canada Del Oro.
- 50K Runners need to complete the first 25K loop in 4 Hours to continue on. You will be credited with a 25K finish.
- 12K Runners will turn around and head back the way they came - a true “out and back” course.
- Both the 25K and 50K will continue on and run in Rancho Canada Del Oro Preserve. The 25K’ers will complete one loop. The 50K’ers will complete two loops in the same direction.

Cup-Free Racing
Effective January 7, 2018, Pacific Coast Trail Runs is following the lead of other trail races by taking steps to "green" our events. We recommend that all participants carry hydration devices on them during the race. We will sell HydraPouch portable cup with Universal carry clip – hooks easily to shorts, tights, number belts, hydration belts, etc. These are available at checkout for $10. You will receive it when you check-in for the event. We will also have a few for purchase for $10 the day of the event.

Post Race BBQ

We take great pride in knowing that when you finish a PCTR trail run, it is of the highest importance that you have a meal and tasty beverage to reward your finish. All entrants receive a "post-race meal ticket" to get the nutrients your body needs right after you finish. You will have the option during registration to purchase additional meal tickets. Our post-race BBQ chefs are in tune with incredible creations to meet all palates and will always provide a vegetarian option. We have served amazing tacos, incredible fajitas, delicious sliders, killer cowboy/cowgirl BBQ treats, and more. In the cold months, and night races, you will always be able to enjoy our super tasty soup creations. So bring a chair, a friend, and relax a bit with us.

- Turn Right on McKean Road
- Turn Right on Casa Loma Road and you will drive to the parking lot

Drop Bags & Pacers or Companions

Drop Bags
Drop bags are only allowed at the Start/Finish Area. 50K’ers are encouraged to have them. All participants will find their car will be close enough to the start/finish area that you won’t need to leave a drop or finish bag.

Pacers or Companions
50K - Pacers are allowed after the first 25K loop only, but not able to mule (carry runners food, beverage, or supplies).
25K - Pacers or companions are allowed but, you can not win awards. You can mule.
12K - No Pacers or Companions are allowed unless given permission by PCTR.

Aid Stations

We will provide a bananas, tangerines, salted potato chips, PB&J sandwiches, sugary and salty snacks, Limited supply of GU gels, GU stroopwafels, GU Salt caps, and GU Chews. All will have electrolyte sports drink, Coke, ginger ale and water.

Please note that we do not supply homemade boiled potatoes in order to comply with the California Health Code. We will also not serve canned potatoes. You will also find that we will have snack bags instead of community bowls of snacks that your "ultra clean trail running" hands will dig it to. :-) Health and safety is expanding into food handling at trail running events. If you need potatoes, then please put in drop bags at the start/finish area or in your car after your first 25K loop.

Shirts & Awards

Shirts
All participants that register by March 23, 2018 will be guaranteed their requested shirt size. Those registering after March 23, 2018 will not be guaranteed their requested shirt size. Since we always get late signups, we have to guess on what sizes to order. We will order more, but sometimes one or two people won’t get the size they wanted. All race day registrants have a 50/50 shot at receiving a shirt. We will order extra shirts based upon previous race data and relative entries.

Shirt Material Choice
We have found not everyone will be happy with shirt style, material, sizing, or even the art. For our events, we can only solve the issue with those requesting the type of material in shirts. During registration you will be asked what type of shirt you would like and then you size. To help you with your decision making process, we can tell you the "Tech-Material" (not cotton) shirts are made by Sport-Tek and generally run true to size. If you select "Cotton Blend", we can tell you they are a high quality shirt made by "Next Level" and tend to be more fitted than loose like other all cotton shirts.

Awards
All finishers will receive a finishers medal similar to the ones in the above photo.

All 50K Finishers will receive a race specific commemorative coaster as an "Ultra Marathon Finisher"

Top 3 Winners
Top 3 Male & Female Overall Winners in each distance will win dollar value race credit for future Pacific Coast Trail Runs events.

1st Place - $75 race credit towards future 2018 PCTR Race
2nd Place - $50 race credit towards future 2018 PCTR Race
3rd Place - $25 race credit towards future 2018 PCTR Race

Age Group Awards
Each age group winner will receive a special 2018 Age Group Medal. Age Group Award Winners include Top 3 Male & Female in each of the following age group categories:

Records & Timing

Timing is kept by Ultrasignup. Ultrasignup is an app that we use to manually enter your time based upon pacific standard time. We understand some competitors value seconds off their time and will make adjustments outside of top three overall winners and all age group winner in seconds for those that have GPS data, other factual proof, or logic to support their claim.
