Get Your Revenge

Pounding the pavement is great and all, but there's something to be said for single track. And at Randolph State Park, just a little ways north of Manhattan, Kansas, you'll find some of the best (and most technical) single track trails in the MHK area. The fall colors and panoramic views of Tuttle Creek Lake and the Flint Hills make for a perfectly lovely romp through the woods. But with roller coaster hills, dizzying switchbacks, and sometimes rocky footing, it's no walk in the park... and Randolph will try its best to take its revenge.

All entrants receive a soft-style long sleeve t-shirt, and all finishers get a Randolph's Revenge can-style pint glass... and yep, we'll have plenty of cold drinks at the finish line to fill 'em up. We'll also have a post-race brunch for runners: breakfast burritos, Varsity Donuts, and fresh fruit. Gonna have a hungry support crew? Add on a meal for your guests for $5.50/ea.

The Course

Nearly 15 total miles of equestrian and hiking trails wind their way around Randolph State Park, about 25 minutes north of Manhattan, KS. They guide you along tallgrass ridges with great views of the lake and Flint Hills before barreling down into the woods for twists and turns on single track trails that alternate between soft dirt and rock and make you feel like a damned mountain goat.

Both the 10K and half marathon take off at 8am, completing two different loops around the main camping area. While the 10K-ers turn to the finish line, half marathon runners will head across Hwy 16 to get in a few miles on the north trails. On the way back, they'll cross under the bridge for one more lap around the main site.

This run is no walk in the park. Some of these hills are no joke, and just when you think you're making headway toward the finish line, you'll hit a switchback. The trail will be well marked, but if you venture off it, you're bound to: A) get lost, and/or B) find all sorts of itchy, scratchy, slippery, and bitey things. If spiders make you shriek, maybe stay outta first place... let someone else clear out the cobwebs. With all that said, though, at the end of the run, you just might find yourself completely addicted to the dirt. Trail runners are kinda crazy that way.

Randolph State Park

Because the run is located within the state park, all vehicles must have a state park permit. You'll be able to purchase these the morning of the race at a self-pay kiosk if needed. The $5 permit is cheaper than paying a fine!

Showers, bathrooms, and campsites are available near the start/finish line.

Aid Station

Bring a water bottle! No cups are allowed on the course. There will be a water stop that runners will pass at approximately 2 miles, 6.5 miles, and 11 miles in.

If you choose to carry gels, bars, or other snacks, any trash must finish the race with you. Sorry, but anyone seen littering will be disqualified. Let's keep our state park clean, folks!

Packet Pickup

We'll announce packet pickup details as race day approaches.

To Keep in Mind

Seriously, let's do our best to keep our state park clean. Anyone seen littering will be disqualified.

Four-legged friends are welcome on the course for an additional $5/ea on race day, but their human counterparts must verify they're fit enough (and polite enough) to participate. We'll have some post-race refreshments for them, too.

No personal music devices or headphones, please. This trail is almost entirely single track, so runners should be on their best trail running behavior... that means keeping an ear out for someone behind you who might want to pass and kindly stepping aside for them.

Trail running is super fun, challenging, and addicting. Be prepared for occasionally treacherous footing and the immediate desire to seek out more trail races.
