Important Race Update
UPDATED COURSE INFORMATIONCourse Map | Aid Station Distances and Cutoffs | Elevation Profiles | Turn by Turn Directions
Due to recent, and ongoing, maintenance work by PG&E in the Marin Headlands, it is highly likely that we will be forced to modify the course for next weekend's event. Sadly, a small (but important) portion of the route will be closed, which prevents us running our pink loop as designed. The route changes we have proposed still highlight the most beautiful trails in the Headlands, but they do change things a bit. Please see the below course map for the new route. We will be updating the website with all the pertinent information over the next 24 hours.
Of important note is that mileage for the Half Marathon, 30K, and 50K will change. The Half Marathon will move up from 13.3 miles to 14.1 miles, the 30K is going to go from 18.8 miles to 20.7 miles, and the 50K will bump up from 31 miles to 31.5 miles.
Starting just steps away from historic Fort Cronkhite, a preserved WWII mobilization post, and the dark sands of Rodeo Beach, this trail race includes steep pitches and lofty downhill sections as it undulates within the beautiful Marin Headlands hills and coastline. Coastal trail and Pirates cove offer astonishing views of the Pacific ocean, while glimpses of San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge appear as you traverse the singletrack of the SCA Trail. As part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Marin Headlands is rich with wildlife, including foxes, coyotes, and bobcats, along with the occasional mountain lion sighting. With distances of 8K, Half Marathon, 30K, and 50K there is a race to challenge and appreciate all running abilities and a scenery that will make even the most curse-worthy climb more benign.

As distances between aid station vary, we strongly encourage all runners to carry at least one 20oz bottle during their run.

ITR Refund Policy
Entry fees to our trail runs are non-refundable, and we do not offer transfers or deferrals to future races. However, with advanced notice, we are happy to credit part of your entry fee to a future Inside Trail Racing event. A credit worth 75% of paid entry fee will be awarded up to two weeks of the event time; a credit worth 50% is provided when a cancellation is made between 2 weeks and up to 72 hours of the event. There will be no credits issued if a cancellation is declared within 72 hours of the race. Credits will be available for 1 full year from the date of the race.
Local time: 7:59 PM
Only registered runners can participate, and you may not exchange your entry with another individual.
We do not cancel races due to rain or heat. An act of God, such as earthquake, fire, or other natural disaster, which causes the area of a race to be closed may force cancellation or relocation of the event. If a race location is changed due to park closures, we will automatically transfer the registration over to the new venue, or we will issue credits in accordance with our cancellation policy. In the event a race is completely cancelled, or needs to be rescheduled, we will transfer a portion of your entry fee to another ITR event. Again, credits will be valid for 1 year.
Due to trail work, closures, or for myriad other reasons, permitting agencies may require changes to the publicized courses at any time prior to an event. This is out of our control, and we therefore will not offer refunds or credits in such a situation.
Hosting a trail running event is an expensive and risky endeavor. All race costs are paid for well in advance of race day, so there is no financial gain to be made if a person does not show up on race day. We want all of our registered runners to show up, run, and have fun. While we understand that injuries, conflicts, emergencies, deaths, and other unfortunate events happen and may impact your plans for participation, we must adhere to our cancellation policies.
