Savannah Sultry Swamp Run
The SSSR is exactly what you would expect on coastal Georgia at the end of July, -sultry!
Local time: 4:28 AM
The air is so thick with moisture you can cut it with a knife and wear it like a shawl, a long heavy, soggy shawl.
So, if you're looking for a sweltering good time then, look no further than this particular race! It's morbidly sultry!
This run represents the heart of the South in the middle of the summer! You'll get no relief from the heat and humidity on this run...we guarantee it!
Add in some snakes, horse flies, angry fiddler crabs and an occassional ragged, rabid looking raccoon and we're talking a hot to trot run!
So, come on down for a discomforting good time! Pick yer poison between the following: 5k, 10k, 20k. If you want my advice, pick the 20k, you'll get more muggy bang for your buck!
Race Date: July 25, 2020
Race Location: Savannah Ogeechee Canal, 681 Fort Argyle Rd, Savannah, GA 31419
Race time: 7:30 am: 20k, 8:00 am: 10k, 8:30: 5k
Due to Covid19 concerns we have implemented measures to keep folks as safe as we can.
Race capped at 75 runners. The breakdown will be 25 runners per distance. Each race will start 30 minutes apart from another.
Instead of water coolers, we will have plastic water bottles available to runners. Water bottles will be handed out to runners by volunteers wearing gloves. We will not provide electrolyte replenishment. So, we encourage you to bring your own electrolyte fluids. At packet pickup we will provide baggies containing Hammer Nutrition Fizz for your race. One tablet to 20 ounces of water does the trick.
The Aid station will have volunteers wearing masks and gloves. They will have cut watermelon and bananas to hand out. We'll also have small chip bags for the runners. Do not reach for the food. It will be handed to you by a volunteer. Please do not crowd the Aid station. Lets all adhere to adequate spacing to minimize risk of spreading our cooties. Lets make sure everyone feels comfortable.
This goes without saying but, if you are ill please don't show up. If your immune system is compromised please stay home.
