ABOUT THE EVENT

LIVE RACE AND VIRTUAL OPTIONS AVAILABLE! (See below for details)

If you know the Miles for Maria races, chances are you love them - and we do too! We wanted to put together a very special event for her; thus the Festival of Races was born. We have MANY options to join the fun, from 3 hours all the way up to 36 hours. There is also a special 100 mile race mixed in.

ANYONE that covers 100 or more miles during their event will get an amazing Miles for Maria belt buckle! (See photos section for a picture of it)

This race also has special meaning behind it. We chose this weekend specificially, as Feb 28th, 2021 is Rare Disease Day, so we thought it was fitting (given Maria's BBSOAS diagnosis) that we held this very special race on this particular weekend!

Miles for Maria was created in honor of our daughter who deals with Epilepsy every day. We find our strength in her daily, and we wanted to recognize that by creating a series of ultra events. In addition to helping provide funds for research, a portion of the proceeds will also go towards a scholarship fund for Maria for future education and therapy needs.

TIMES AND DISTANCES

There are multiple options, from 3/6/12/24/36 hours, to a 100 mile race. There are multiple start time options available for the 3/6/12/24 hour races. When you register you will be able to choose which start time you want.

24 HOUR - choose between Saturday 8am and Saturday 8pm

12 HOUR - Choose from Saturday 8am or 8pm, or Sunday at 8am

6 HOUR - Chose from Saturday 8am, 2pm or 8pm, or Sunday 8am

3 HOUR - Choose from Saturday 8am, 2pm or 8pm, or Sunday 8am

SWAG and AWARDS

Anyone covering 100 miles or more will earn a Miles for Maria belt buckle!

All finishers will receive a finisher medal.

The 3/6/12 Hour distances will receive a hoodie. The 24/36 Hour and 100 Miler distances will receive a lightweight jacket.

Awards will be given to the overall male/female in each of the timed run categories. Awards will be given to the top 3 Male and Female in the 100 miler.

COURSE AND WEATHER

The course is a 2 mile loop of mixed terrain. There are some hills (though nothing serious), and plenty of flat stretches. The vast majority is jeep trail or grass, and the course is not technical.

We run rain, shine, snow, wind, whatever Mother Nature wants to do! The only time we do NOT is if it is lightning in the area, or if the trail becomes impassable. Otherwise, plan to be there!

LIVE AND VIRTUAL OPTIONS!

This is a LIVE race (yay!!). However, we know not everyone is ready to run live just yet and we do not want you to miss out on the fun!

Instead of having yet another registration option (we think 14 options is enough), if you want to run virtually, just sign up for the category you want to run, and then send us a quick message saying you want to run virtually, and we will take care of the rest!

Virtual runners will get the same swag as the live race, mailed anywhere in the country to their doorstep. And yes, you CAN be eligible for the awesome belt buckle! We have 3 requirements...

1. Send us a pic of you starting, showing the time on your watch/app/etc. Showing the date would be a big help, too.

2. Send us a pic of your finish, showing the time on your watch/app/etc. Showing the date would be a big help, too.

3. Once your time starts, it does not stop for any reason.

Complete instructions will be sent to you on the virtual component as we get a little closer.

AMENITIES

There is PLENTY of room to set up supplies, tents, canopies, etc. and still stay socially distanced. We will send out details on the venue map as we get a little closer. Sorry, no camping on Friday (2/26) will be allowed.

There are restrooms on site (NO portojohns!)

There will be food and hydration available for our runners. We typically put on a big spread, but based on COVID conditions at the time, we will know how much food we can put out. As we get closer we will be able to go through this with you.

Both the restrooms and food areas will be next to the start line.

PACERS

Pacers will not be allowed unless they are registered participants

TIMING/RESULTS

The race will be CHIP TIMED and will have scrolling results. Complete results (As always) will be posted before we leave the venue.

THE 100 MILER

Instead of it being a timed run (based on # of laps covered in the allotted time), this is a "First to the Finish" race. Awards will be based on the fastest to 100 miles on the course. PLEASE NOTE there is a 36 hour time limit on the 100 miler (both live and virtual).

COVID PROTOCOLS

If you have run with us during the pandemic, you know we take safety and sanitation seriously. Several protocols for our runner and staff safety will be in place. As we get closer we will have a better idea of the COVID climate at the time, and we will share with you all the details of the protocols. Rest assured, we will take every step possible to keep everyone safe!
