Description

The Salt To Saint Relay is Utah’s most exciting bicycle relay challenge. Teams of cyclists, consisting of 8 riders, 4 riders, and even Solo riders, will push themselves, their sleeping habits, their cycling abilities and their idea of a good time to new limits. Imagine the bragging rights, inside jokes, camaraderie and stench that will be built up after 24 hours and 430 miles of riding together, working together and cheering each other on.

With a relatively open format, teams will take our recommendations, route, and transition areas and add their own strategy to get from Salt Lake City to beautiful St George as fast as possible.  Cyclists, starting in the heart of Salt Lake City at the State Capitol building, will leapfrog their way south, riding and relaying on roads that have been chosen for their safety, beauty and challenge. Following historic Hwy 89 for the majority of the route, riders will pass through towns they never knew existed and through some of the most stunning scenery Utah has to offer.

With the distance of 430 miles divided into 24 legs, each team will need to decide which distances and legs fit their individual teammates’ abilities.  Legs vary in distance but have an average distance of 17 miles. We, of course will offer our recommendations, however, as long as you stay within certain regulations of the race you are free to create and implement your own transition strategy.  So not only will this event challenge even the toughest of on the road, but it is also achievable by the novice cyclist.
