Deerfly Trail Race
Trail running is like a mini-adventure, and the annual DeerFly delivers with a variety of trails and terrain. The entire course is "asphalt free", and the 4.2 mile course offers competitive runners, as well as walkers, the perfect distance. Nothing too technical on this course, just off road forest trails through Winona Forest that feature overlooks and creekside trails. Not purely flat, but nothing too extreme for hills either.

The Deerfly trail race is hosted by the Winona Forest Recreation Association. (WFRA) An organization focused on providing 4 seasons of outdoor recreation opportunities within the 9,000+ acre NYSDEC owned Winona State Forest. All of the funds needed for trail maintenance, equipment, materials, etc... are generated through Membership and by organizing many unique athletic events throughout the year. There are meticulously maintained and well groomed trails for XC Skiing, Fatbiking,and Dog sledding in the winter and Mountain biking, Trail running, and hiking when snow is not present.
