Taterbug 30

Switzerland County, IN 30 Miler

This Event Took Place Sat. Nov 5, 2011

History

The Taterbug 30 is the newest Ultramarathon in Indiana. It may be only 30 miles, but it will be run along some of the most challenging terrain in the state. Rolling hills, wooded areas, and creeks will greet you from the road along a scenic course that winds throughout Switzerland County.

Named for the famous Taterbug Hill—the highest point in the county—this race will provide every competitor with a challenge. It is a great distance for the first-time Ultramarathoner, or for an organized team of up to 6 members that will run shorter distances. Each team member will run 5-mile legs.

The Course

The Taterbug 30 Ultramarathon course will begin in front of the historic Switzerland County Courthouse and head west out of town, turning right onto Hwy 129. Shortly after, you will begin to climb to the highest point in all of Switzerland County and the peak for which the race is named—Taterbug Hill. The course then winds throughout scenic Switzerland County showcasing its beautiful creeks, farmland and wildlife.

The entire course will be paved, with some small sections of gravel road. The majority of the course will be less-traveled county roads. Depending on rainfall, a creek crossing the course may result in wet shoes, so be prepared...and don't be a wimp!

t is mainly a loop course, with only a small section of Taterbug Hill being to the top and back. The rest of the course showcases a large sampling of the picturesque beauty of Switzerland County.
