The Kid Custer

3925 E Snowbasin Rd

Huntsville, UT 10K, 25K, Custer Cup

This Event Took Place Sat. Jun 23, 2012

Description

The Kid Custer was named in memory of the late Brody Johnson. The Kid Custer is a race for all ages; those who are young and "young at heart".

The race begins at Earl's Lodge.  There is a nice large patio for family to sit out on and enjoy the weather while the race is going.  Runners are also able to relax there after the race.  They will also fire up the grill at the lodge and food is available to purchase.  The bathrooms are also very nice and open to use for all who attend.  It is a beautiful place and a great event for family and friends.

The 25k Kid Custer course is a figure eight loop starting and ending at Earl’s Lodge. The loop runs single track trails on Green Pond Trail and back to the North onto Sardine Trail. The views are phenomenal atop Sardine as you can stand and see the Ogden Valley below and also Pine View Dam to the East. This is a very scenic trail race and sure to be both uplifting and challenging.

The 10k Bighorn course is a loop starting and ending at Earl’s Lodge. This loop connects to the Green dPond trail and almost exclusively single track. It is a fun course with lots to offer both the experience trail runner and also the first-timer.

We have added a group event called the "Custer Cup Challenge". This exciting program is for teams of 4 runners who will each run the 25K Course (THIS IS NOT A RELAY) All runners will be aggregated for a total team time. The fasted aggregate time will take home the coveted "Custer Cup".  Rules: Each group must have 4 runners to participate. Each member of the team will be running the 25k (no 10K races are available for the Custer Cup) and winners will be determined by overall aggregate time. Must belong to the same business or organization, or have corporate sponsor. Winners will be able to keep and display the Custer Cup for one year. Winners are required to return the cup for the following year for others to compete for the trophy.

Team names, uniforms, slogans and any other creativity is welcomed and and highly encouraged (As long as it is appropriate)!!!

Comments from past races

"I thought the race was awesome - you did a great job on the course, with the water stops, and the medals/prizes! The tee shirts are awesome, and it was great to have the band cheer us on. The timing system was great, and I love the chocolate milk at the end of the run!"

"I will definitely do this one again and will pass it on to others - I would love to see this race stay on the circuit - hopefully the weather is always as good as this year, it was phenomenal (can you be sure to make that happen :~) ?!)"
