Welcome to Ultra Ladies

Are you ready to take your running to new levels? Have you ever wanted to run an ultra marathon? Are you a veteran ultra runner who is looking for an amazing group of trail sisters to train with? Please join us for the Ultra Ladies Fall Training Program. We are happy to introduce an elevated program to help you reach your ultra running goals. Our fantastic fall season will culminate with the running of the Avalon 50/50 in January. We are primarily a women's training group, but we also welcome UltraLadies'Men and have experience in coaching a wide array of athletes, race distances, terrains and altitudes.

Whether you are training for your first trail race or are a veteran who wants to better your performance, we are here to guide, coach and celebrate your hard work and successes.

We have combined 30 years of experience behind us. Since 1994, Ultra-Mama, Nancy Shura-Dervin, has been training and coaching ultra athletes to their first 50K, 50-Mile and 100-Mile races. Jennifer Davis has been an Ultra Lady since 2011 and has completed numerous ultra marathons including (5) 100-Mile Runs. Our UltraLadies Ambassadors are team mentors who are experienced 50K to 100-Mile runners who will run the trails with you and share tricks of the trade to make your experience safe and enjoyable.

Ultra Ladies Fall Training Schedule

Our training program consists of Saturday morning group runs as scheduled, Ultra Running 101 coaching clinics, High Desert aka Ridgecrest 50K/30K Trail Race and culminates with a beautiful weekend on Catalina Island to run the Avalon Benefit 50-Mile or 50K Race.

Our long training runs will be held on Saturday mornings as scheduled at different trailheads in the Santa Monica Mountains that Ultra Ladies have used for 24-years to prepare for the High Desert and Avalon races.

Meet Your Coaches

Nancy Shura-Dervin:
Founder/Owner of UltraLadies

Nancy has been a long distance runner since 1990 and has finished more than 100 races of distances from the marathon to 100+ miles. Nancy founded the UltraLadies in 1994 to develop a group of women to train together on remote mountain trails. In 2003, Nancy became the first person documented to qualify for and complete the two most prestigious foot races in the world, in the same year; the Boston Marathon and the Badwater 135 Mile Ultra Marathon. Nancy holds a CA nursing license where her career as a groundbreaking educator, coach and motivational speaker in the field of natural childbirth translated perfectly to helping runners combine physical, mental and emotional strategies to complete ultra marathons. Nancy is also owner/race director of Trail Run Events, LLC with a stellar reputation for bringing the very best trail running experiences to Southern California runners.




Jennifer Davis: Jennifer joined the Ultra Ladies in 2011 as a newbie and progressed through the seasons as a regular Ultra Ladies member. Whatever doubts, nerves or fears you may experience, you can be sure Jennifer has been there. Jennifer has finished numerous ultra marathons including five 100-mile endurance runs. Jennifer wasn't always a runner, while working with adults with intellectual disabilities Jennifer was asked by one of those individuals to run the LA Marathon. After that she had the opportunity to see many other with intellectual disabilities finish various races including Marathons. In 2013 she had the honor of being by Jimmy Jenson's side when he became the first person with Down's syndrome to finish the New York Marathon.
