Course Description

The Laurel Ridge Trail starts at the top of Buford dam will stunning views of the River and the Lake. The trail is mostly hard pack dirt but there are a few boardwalk sections rolling hills and twists and turns to make it a very fun loop. Most of the trail is under tree cover and temps near the water should be a little cooler however it is the heat of summer and we recommend bringing a hand-held water bottle even with the water that will be on the course. Runners will get to test there toughness on "the climb" where the trail leaves the river and snakes up to the top of the dam. We expect the 6 hr racers/teams will be able to complete as many at 8-9 loops of this roughly 4 mile trail. Remember

Pricing

All Pricing is per person, so on a team each team member pays the listed price. !! Currently we have a early registration discount of only $25 but this price is capped at the first 20 racers so don't miss out. after we reach 20 racers the cost will still be a great value at the early discount $35 until we hit 50 racers. The cost will then be $45 until September 8th after which it will be $55 through race day. first 20 racers = $25/ea next 30 racers = $35/ea until Sep. 8th = $45/ea Sep. 9th-12th = $55/ea **Note you do not need your full team to register just pick and team name and number of teammates and make sure everyone signs up under the same team name.

How does the team thing work?

Teams have more fun with a built in cheering squad! This is a great way to run with friends and training partners as you tag in and out. Teams will be able to tag runners in/out at the end of each loop but this is totally up to your team and your team strategy swap every loop.. swap every two.. swap based on your competition... whatever you want to do. Exchanges can only be made within the transition area (Start/Finish) Scoring is done by the number of completed loops under the cut-off (miss the cut off by 1 sec. on a final lap and it wont count) and then be shortest time. If a team mate is injured (assuming somthing minor but prohibits finishing the loop under your own power) and has to be picked up, the team can continue after the racer is back in the transition area. however the tie elapesed from that start of that loop must be greater then the teams last loop. this may mean that the next runner but wait out the clock before beginnning the next loop. Teams will be able to set up a transition area at the Start/Finish Teams will likley share a race number and need to hand that off to transiton a runner on the course (we might come up with something more interesting to exchange)
