Overview
The Powisset Farm Trail Run is produced by Sun Multisport Events and is part of Barn to Run, New England's first and only farm-based trail race series. The spring event takes place on Monday, May 27, 2019 (Memorial Day) and is based at Powisset Farm in Dover, MA. The race includes running the trails of Powisset Farm and neighboring Noanet Woodlands and offers four race distances to choose from: 8.3 miles, 5.6 miles, 3.1 miles and 1.5 miles (geared towards kids, but open to anyone). All races begin and end at Powisset Farm near the main barn and utlize Powisset Farm's scenic Meadow Loop trail which is a very flat and grassy trail characterized by views of the farm, rock walls, hundred plus year old fencing and numerous bird boxes.
Runners in the 3.1, 5.6 and 8.3 mile races will also run the trails of Noanet Woodlands where footing varies from hardpacked dirt to sections with rocks, loose gravel and some exposed roots. The 5.6 and 8.3 mile race include a short but steep climb (and descent) of Noanet Peak (387 feet) which offers a terrific view of Boston.
The 1.5 mile run is entirely on the grounds of Powisset Farm and will utilize the Meadow Loop exclusively. This run will start and end near the main barn.
ATTENTION WALKERS: Walkers are welcome to participate in the 3.1 mile race, but may not participate in the other races (including the 1.5 miler) due to the schedule of events and cut-off times.
Schedule of Events
Sunday, 5/26/19:
* 11:30am-2:00pm: Packet pick-up at Charles River Running (679 Washington St, Norwood, MA)
* 6:00pm: Online registration closes
Monday, 5/27/19 (RACE DAY!):
* 7:30am: Packet pick-up/registration begins at Powisset Farm
* 8:30am: Powisset Farm farmstand opens (open until 12:30pm)
* 9:00am: The 1.5 mile race starts.
* 9:25am: Start of the 5.6 and 8.3 mle races (after all runners in the 1.5 mile race cross the finish line)
* 9:40am (est.): Start of the 3.1 mile race.
* 10:30am: Athletes that receive socks as their swag have the option to exchange their socks for a race t-shirt if any t-shirts are left over.
* 10:45am (est.): Awards ceremony
Included with your registration fee
All athletes will experience a well-organized event in a beautiful setting and run a well-marked course. The price of entry also includes swag, race photos, and post-race food and drink. All runners in the 1.5 mile race get Barn to Run socks and the first 300 runners in the longer distance races get a soft cotton, gender-specific t-shirt (registrants after the first 300 get Barn to Run socks; anyone that receives socks has the option to exchange their socks for a t-shirt if there are any t-shirts left over).
About Powisset Farm and the Trustees of the Reservations
The Powisset Farm Trail Run series is designed to not just offer trail runners a first-class event, but to also showcase and raise awareness for Powisset Farm's property, programs and CSA (community supported agriculture) operations. A portion of the proceeds from the Powisset Farm Trail Runs will be donated to the Trustees of the Reservations, a non-profit land conservation and historic preservation organization dedicated to preserving natural and historical places in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts like Powisset Farm.
