WHAT "#47" SUPPORTS
Maria (the namesake of the Miles for Maria series) was diagnosed with Bosch-Boonstra-Schaaf Optic Atrophy Syndrome, a genetic disorder that is very rare. So rare, in fact, that Maria is the 47th known case. (Hence the 47K). ALL net proceeds of this event will go to help fund a BBSOAS conference in Houston in April. The conference has a fundraising goal of $5,000 so all families affected by BBSOAS will not have to pay for the conference.
COURSE / DISTANCE / SWAG / AWARDS
The course is a .65 mile loop around "Maria's Trail". It is super flat and non-technical. 45 laps will be the distance to make 47K, and we will give awards to the top 3 fastest males and top 3 fastest females
The course can only support 75 runners max, and we are hoping for another sell out!
All runners will get a cool shirt and dogtag finisher medal.
WANT TO SUPPORT THE CAUSE BUT CAN'T BE THERE?? Sign up for the "0 Mile" category and run with us in spirit! We will mail your shirt/swag to your doorstep, or you can come down on race morning and run as much or as little as you like!
VENUE / DIRECTIONS / AID
The venue is Barrett Lakes. For GPS purposes, use 1940 Lodge Rd, Kennesaw, though once you turn onto Lodge Rd, take your first right into the parking lot. We will be setting up below that parking lot along the lake.
There is plenty of space to set up tents/canopies, etc. Please pack out what you pack in. There is a fully stocked aid station on the course adjacent the start/finish line that will have pretty much everything you can imagine. Portojohns will be on the trail about 30-40 ft off the path.
We will have complete results posted same day on Ultrasignup
