Welcome to the Sacfit Virtual Half Marathon Training Program! First and foremost, while our initial program features will be entirely virtual, we anticipate meeting in smaller pace groups later on as circumstances improve and normalcy slowly returns.

In the meantime, virtual does not mean no interaction or minimal program features. Quite the contrary! We will have weekly Zoom team meetings to help keep everyone connected. In the team meetings, we will review the program features and details, provide maps to courses and routes along the Parkway that avoid the large crowds of bikes and people (to exercise responsible social distancing), provide video highlights of each course so you can review and familiarize yourself ahead of time, as well as conduct interactive seminars online, and a host of other stuff. So, if you are interested in training for your first half marathon or looking to finish with a faster time, or any other half marathon goal, then you've come to the right place!

Since our start in 2006, Sacfit has provided safe, sensible, and fun training programs for all fitness levels, ages, and goals. And once small groups in public are permitted, our staff of over 50 experienced and inspirational coaches will train with you every step of the way and help you get to the finish line! Whether a newer runner or walker, or an experienced runner, we the have a program just for you!

Information night is every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. If you can't make the Zoom meeting, no problem. We're recording it, so once you register in any subsequent week, you can review it at your convenience!

Description

Sacfit is the largest training group in the Sacramento region, and has earned the distinction as the premiere running and walking club in the area. Over our 15-year history, we have trained nearly 14,000 individuals, helping each achieve his or her particular goal.

Our success is based on the following principles: a training program rooted in proven science, a staff of knowledgeable coaches and a broad spectrum of pace groups to match ability and goals ranging from Boston qualifying speed to easy walking and everything in between. So no matter what your fitness level, pace, goal, or experience, we have the program, coaches, and teammates to complement your journey from start to finish.

Next, to help keep you informed, interested, and motivated, Sacfit provides periodic seminars and clinics related to health and fitness, and also will provide, when social distancing is relaxed, aid stations for the longer workouts that are second to none, all of which create a fun, safe, and social environment.

Add up all these elements, and Sacfit is, literally, the place where fun, fitness, and friendships come together!

Program Details

The 17-week Half Marathon training program is broken up into weekly segments, each segment consisting of three mid-week workouts (Mon, Tues, and Thurs) and a Saturday morning long workout.

  • Monday workout is a shorter duration, so this one is on your own.
  • Tuesday and Thursday workouts are more specialized, and when the social distancing is relaxed, we will resume our supervised venues for both days with morning and/or evening times - the most supervised midweek workouts of any program around.
  • Saturday morning workouts are the longest of the week and you will be provided interactive maps to work with your phone, as well as markers along the routes to guide you along until smaller groups are permitted. Then, we'll resume our coach-led pace groups consisting of about 10-15 teammates.

    Our 2020 Virtual Summer/Fall Half Marathon Training is targeted toward the Urban Cow Half Marathon - Sacramento's finest Fall Half Marathon! However, should that event be canceled, Sacfit will be offering a virtual half marathon, including an actual course, race jersey, medal, and opportunity to upload your results like a regular in-person race!

    FREE ADD-ON PROGRAM! Should you wish to continue your training momentum after the Urban Cow Half Marathon, we provide an 11-week add-on program free of charge so that you may continue to build your fitness and consider other half marathons in the region, including Sacfit's members-only half marathon.

    Finally, all Sacfit training programs offer flexibility because you never know what the future holds! Should you decide you need to adjust your goal later into the season, you can switch to any other Sacfit program at no additional cost!

    Additional Registration Information

    There is no in-person registration. You can register online right here or go to our website (https://www.sacfit.com) to download a paper registration, and mail that in with a check.
