This is not a race rather a Fat Ass style run that I created to celebrate my 30th birthday in 2016 that has now grown into a great challenge for many. You have to be a true Phoenician to fisnish this event as it is very difficult. You will be running 50k in distance with over 9,000ft of elevation gain on the very rocky Phoenix Mountain Preserves during Phoenix's hottest and most humid month. You could almost say this is like Barkely Marathons and Badwater had a tiny baby. As of today we have only had 2 finishers in the 3 years of the event.
Local time: 1:51 PM
The course will not be marked -- you will need to carefully follow the map and written directions to stay on course and (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) use the GPX file with your GPS watch and or phone app like Gaia GPS, MotionX-GPS, Backcountry Navigator or others. You will be required to have a cell phone on you in case of emergency as you are on your own. We are in the middle of the city and getting to help or deciding to stop at any point is very easy as you will have great cell service and will be within 2 miles or less of the city.
5am start time with 7:30pm cutoff time
14.5 hour cutoff
This being a free, small scale, fat ass style run you will not be pampered like at a normal race, nor will you get much support or free stuff like t-shirts or prizes. There won't even be aid stations but you can have crew and we will have a post race party!
