Mead's Quarry Vertical Challenge

Climb. And climb some more.
400ft per 1.45 mile lap.
12 hours of fun.
Enjoy a day at Mead's Quarry, part of Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville, TN.
The course takes you over, up, down and around the picturesque quarry, with views of the Smoky Mountains from its highest point.
We'll take care of you throughout the day with a fully stocked aid station. All you have to do is...
Climb, climb, climb!
While loops are tallied, it's the vertical feet that we have in mind.
Awards based on two standards...
Standard #1: 8,800ft of gain (50 K)
Standard #2: 14,000ft of gain (50 M)
At the end of the day, the overall King OR Queen of the Hill will be awarded a prize package including cash money, gift cards and more!

Details

TIME: 7am--7pm
LOCATION: Mead's Quarry at Ijams Nature Center... 2915 Island Home Ave, Knoxville, TN 37920
PACKET PICKUP: Friday night from 4-6 at Mead's Quarry. And race morning at Mead's Quarry from 6–6:45
AID STATION: The start/finish area will have water, sports drink, and sweet and salty food...typical aid station supplies plus our own personal touches.
RULES: A full lap has to be completed in the 12 hour time limit to be counted.
AWARDS: Standard #1: quarry chisel; Standard #2: quarry pickaxe; King OR Queen: prize package. Hard hats for all finishers
PRICE: $70... $80 after Oct 1st
COURSE: approximately 400’ elevation gain/1.45 mile loop...800' total change in elevation per loop!
