Who are the Friends of Greenwood Furnace Complex?

The Friends Group is a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. We advocate for PA State Parks and for community involvement. We promote outdoor recreation opportunities, heritage conservation and environmental quality in our State Parks, State Forests and surrounding community.
Our group helps support three beautiful state parks located in Northern Huntingdon County about 10 miles south of State College, Pennsylvania. All three parks are managed as one unit from the main office located at Greenwood Furnace State Park. Check out their website at http://friendsofgreenwoodparks.org/

About Snowfest

12pm – 4 pm
Come and join us for the 4th annual SnowFest and Juniata Valley YMCA Polar Plunge. The event is growing, and we will have several returning activities and some new ones, all under a new name – SnowFest. While the polar plunge has taken place for the past several years, we are building an all-day event around it. SnowFest activities will include: broomball, ice skating, free snowshoe trials, educational programs, bonfire on the beach, winter camping, ice harvesting, animal tracks, fire starting, and others. The Friends of Greenwood Furnace will be selling hot soup and coffee.
The centerpiece of SnowFest is the annual Polar Plunge benefitting the Juniata Valley YMCA in Burnham. Come and watch as participants brave the cold waters of Greenwood Lake! YOU MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED WITH THE YMCA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLUNGE! Please email me via the contact email for the race (hikewilds@gmail.com) and I will get you the info on plunging.
