Winter Whiskey Run
Southern Singletrack Trail Series is thrilled to announce the inaugural Winter Whiskey Run 5K and 15K on Saturday, February 15, 2020 to benefit Wreaths Across America. This is a night race on a private farm in east Alabama that you will not want to miss out on! Rumor has it there will be a bonfire, a s’mores bar at the start/finish and whiskey for the finishers. So come on out to The Farm, bring a headlamp to enjoy running trails in the dark, hang out with friends around the bonfire, and keep whiskey warm on a cold Winter’s night!
Local time: 4:15 AM
Come out to The Farm in Salem, Alabama and join SSTS as we maneuver around on the farm 5K trail that includes a little forest road and a lot of 4-wheeler trails to navigate – not really too technical, but if the weather has been rainy, keep your eyes on the trail to watch for the abundance of mud holes! Some of the terrain becomes quite muddy after rain events, so be prepared to get muddy in the traditional southern farm way!!
The course: One 5K loop and three loops for 15K
Where: Road 179, Salem, Alabama
Start time: 6PM
Awards: Overall Male and Female prize
No transfers, refunds or deferments allowed.
Cost: 5K: $45 / 15K: $60
Pricing goes up to $60/5K and $75/15K if you register after January 17.
There may be no race day registration, so get it together and register soon. Please note: ALL runners must toe the line at 6PM and must have a headlamp and/or flashlight - NO EXCEPTIONS.
The Wreaths Across America Story
Since 2006, the Worcester Wreath Company out of Harrington, Maine, with the assistance of the Civil Air Patrol and other civic organizations, has helped honor the memories of our service members and their families by placing wreaths on the headstones of those laid to rest at our nation’s national cemeteries.
The mission is simple:
Remember, Honor and Teach.
Remember the fallen.
Honor those that serve and their families, and
Teach our children the value of freedom.
