Cancelled Event

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Despite having permission from Sandy City where this race starts and finishes as well as the County this race has been cancelled due to Draper City voting to not allow any private events to use the Corner Canyon area due to trail usage and safety concerns. Draper City is still holding their own trail race in June despite this reasoning. We feel this is a terrible and hypocritical decision by Draper City and shows no regard for small businesses like ours or for runners who enjoy these events.

Runners who are registered should have received an email with options available to them. As always we will put the runners first with our races. This includes a refund or credit. If you are on the waitlist you do not need to do anything as we will simply remove you from this waitlist due to your credit card never being charged!

We will do our best to ensure these events are allowed to happen next year. We are very sorry for the frustration and disappointment this has caused. This would have been an amazing race that runners would have enjoyed.

COVID-19 **Please Read**

Draper City Council and Mayor have voted to not allow events this year in the Corner Canyon area due to Covid and trail usage. This race starts and finishes in Sandy City and has approval from all parties with the exception of Draper City. We feel this is a terrible decision and encourage runners to reach out to Draper City to and let them know events like this are wanted and they should be allowed on public trails in all cities.

We will make a decision on this race by the end of May. In the meantime we have paused credit card processing making it so runners can register to secure their spot. Runners who have paid already will be offered a choice between a refund or a credit if we do have to cancel this race. Hopefully we can get Draper to see how important events like this are to the running community and how little impact they have on the trail system.

Why should I sign up for this race?

Beautiful course, food, good company, race photos, custom locally made finisher medal and awards, friendly competition, performance t-shirt, and swag. What more could you want? Really if you can think of something let us know and we will try to get it!

The Bonneville Shoreline Trail spans several cities. This course has you running on the Sandy and Draper sections. From breathtaking vistas to an amazing suspension bridge this course will not disappoint. To finish it all off a beautiful loop in Corner Canyon using the entire Hoof N Boot trail up to Peak View Trailhead. You make your way back using the Ghost Falls trail system, the best Corner Canyon has to offer!  This race will always be held the second Saturday of July.

Please check out the website for all the info you will need. Ask us if you have any questions, Happy Trails!

Half Marathon

The Half Marathon starts you on the Aquaduct trail just below the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Eventually you detour to the Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge. A beautiful bridge that is a must see. You head out on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail taking in breathtaking views along the way to the first aid station!

After arriving at the East Bench Aid Station you continue on Bonneville until detouring onto the Burnham Hiking Trail. After running along a stream and meadow you jump onto the Hoof N Boot trail. This incredible trail takes you all the way to the Peakview Aid Station.

From Peakview you continue up Three Falls Trail before dropping back down into Corner Canyon using the Ghost Falls trail system. This is the most scenic area of Corner Canyon and will not disappoint!

From Ghost Falls you head back to East Bench Aid Station and meet back up with Bonneville. Follow this trail back to the beautiful suspension bridge. The finish is just over a mile away with plenty of views to take in!

About

At Happy Trails Running we focus on a beautiful course and an amazing experience. We want our races to be events that runners look forward to every year. We believe in quality over quantity which is why we cap all races at 300 or less participants. This lets us hold races in unique areas that would be off limits to large race due to parking and trail capacity.

We also believe in keeping everything local. This enables us to both support our community but also keep costs down. We want our races to be simple, affordable, and convenient for runners. You won't find huge expos at our races, just local businesses, friends, and family having a great time!

If there is anything we can do to improve your experience with our races please reach out to us. We are always trying to improve our events. Your feedback, what you liked and did not like, is the best way to achieve this.

Our courses will not focus on setting PR's with mostly downhill running but instead on enjoying all of the beautiful trails the Wasatch Mountains have to offer. We hope our races will make lasting memories and experiences for all of our runners.

If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you!

We hope to see you at the races or on the trails. Until then, Happy Trails!
