    Hi, this will be my first time at the Helena 50. The course description lists multiple creek crossings. I'm wondering if any of the crossings are large enough that I will have to get my feet wet. I just want to plan correctly. Thanks, Mike B

      The first time I did it I stepped in the water twice. The second time I ran the race stepped in the water once, but we got caught in the rain/hail twice that day. I always carry extra socks on my belt to change into if my feet get wet. The sock on the belt eventually dry out and can be switched again later. My first sock is a Wright double layer sock and on top of that I wear a Smartwool sock. It works for me.

      Last year doing the 50K my feet were wet the whole time. Was a abnormally wet summer and this summer is looking a lot drier.

      Thanks for the information. It looks like with the new course, we will have opportunity to get wet so perhaps I'll take David's advice and bring extra socks!
