Race Start Time

100K Event Validation

Over the past couple of seasons we have enjoyed the privilege competitive and determined ultrarunners race in our 100K. But we also saw the number of entrants for that event decline to all all time lows in 2015 and 2016 as well. We are planning on and fully preparing to hold the 100K race again this year but in order to do that our race team has established a race entrant validation number of 40 participants. We must have no less than forty (40) participants pre-registered by 14 July 2017. We will be opening the 100K pre-registration at the same time as the 50K registration. 100K entrants will pre-register and will not be charged their entry fee until we reach a total of forty (40) 100K entrants or make the formal decision to hold or not hold the 100K race on 14 July 2017 based on total number of entered racers. In the unfortunate event that we just do not get to our validation number of 40 100K racers we hope that those who did pre-register for the 100K will opt to register and race in the 50K. The earlier we reach that 40 in 2017 the better.

The course has a widely varied trail surface that includes well maintained single and double track trail, grassy single track, dirt roads and a bit of asphalt too, on a course that is extremely "runnable" as trail courses go . Two ascents and one long descent traverse the upland forest. These steep shaded trails have some roots, ruts, and stones. The trails in the upper meadows are mostly dirt, grass, rolling, and unshaded. The meadows are referred to as the Serengeti. Each lap's 5 km of running in the Serengeti can make for a challenging summer ultra if Mother Nature offers a warm sunny day. The lake trails are shaded, have a few roots and are generally flat. Overall, the course lends itself to quick running without technical hikes.

A well-supported run with 2 stocked aid stations and 1 unmanned water drop; racers are always within 3.75 miles of the next aid on the course.  Participants and crew can position their own bags, coolers, chairs & canopies (10'x10' max) beside the Main Aid Station and along the paved footpath that brings the participants to the Main Aid Station. Some cool finisher awards and gear.

Course Time Limit

The 100 km participants must finish 87.5 km (finish lap 7) under 12 hours (by 6:00 p.m.) in order to start the final lap. The course closes at 14 hours and 15 minutes (at 8:15 p.m.), unless a finish is imminent, i.e. runners seen approaching the finish. The only exception to this is for Grandmasters 50 that have until 6:45 p.m. to start their final lap and have until 9:00 p.m. to finish.

Local time: 5:26 AM
