About the Race

Set amid the master-planned Coyote Springs community approximately fifty miles north of Las Vegas, the Coyote Springs Trail Run is a race to not be missed. Coyote’s trails have been hand-cut by Pardee HomesVice President Klif Andrews and the “trail hobos,” a group of near-mountain men as rugged as the terrain itself, who make their lives in the backwoods and brush; their appreciation for nature and the thrill of challenging trail has resulted in a system both original in layout and design as well as painstakingly maintained. Paired with the expertise and innovation of Elemental Running and Training, the resulting course will leave runners awe-inspired and breathless, even before the gun goes off.

Course

All courses traverse the gamut of trail terrain, including dirt fire road, paved road, single-track trail, climbs and descents both steep and gradual, scenic switchbacks, rocky roundabouts, deep canyon, and vast expanses of desert landscape. The variety of terrain helps make this course ideal for first-time trail runners, as well as seasoned trail pros.

Ultra distances will consist of loops of the Major Coyote Loop, a 16.6-mile loop; the Minor Coyote Loop is a 13.3-mile loop that comprises the Marathon and Half Marathon course; 10K is a 6.2-mile excerpt of the Minor Loop.  Each loop is primarily single-track, with a short distance of out-and-back dirt road at the end of each loop. Please note: due to runner feedback, we have modified the course to eliminate the drudgery of the out-and-back at the end of each loop! This portion will now be only 1.5 miles and will avoid the soft, sinking sand.

100M will consist of 6 loops, with combined surface of:

74 miles single track
22 miles dirt road
4 miles hardball
Elevation: 6222' gain/6222' loss

100M will consist of 6 loops
50M will consist of 3 loops

Marathon will consist of 2 Minor loops
½ Marathon will consist of 1 Minor loop
10K will consist of 1 abbreviated loop
