The 2016 SD 100 is scheduled for Friday, June 3, 2016 starting at 6:00 am PDT from Lake Cuyamaca Recreation Area near Julian, CA. Qualification for the 2016 event
requires applicants to have completed an official 50 mile run in under 13 hours within the qualification period of January 1, 2014 to January 1, 2016, or completion of any official 100 mile or 100K during this two year time period. The entrant field was selected on January 5 and is capped at 300 entrants. The standby waitlist is now closed.
Changes for 2016
The 2016 San Diego will begin on a Friday (June 3,2016) with a 32 hour time limit. This change will allow more runners to participate by reducing parking and traffic issues at most aid stations. The official cut off time of 32 hours will be at Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 2:00pm.
The entry fee is increased by $10 to $260 due to CA State Special Permit fee increases implemented on Jan 1, 2016. Partial refunds up until April 15, no transfer or rollover of fees.
The San Diego Ultra Slam entry procedure has changed beginning on January 1, 2016. Entry into the San Diego Ultra Slam is now accomplished on Ultrasignup at: http://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=35840
The San Diego 100 course is a 90% single track mountain course which covers four recreational areas in the east county mountains of San Diego. The 2016 start and finish area are located at the south parking area of Lake Cuyamaca Recreational Area. The course includes trails traversing sections of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), Noble Canyon, the Cuyamaca and the Anza Borrego State Parks, and Mt Laguna Recreational Areas. A very challenging course with approximately 26,000' feet of total elevation change (13k climb & 13k descent) with a 32 hour time limit. Selected runners must agree to the strictly enforced limit of one crew vehicle which includes any pacers that are helping the runner.
The 2016 race start and finish area is located at north parking of Lake Cuyamaca Recreation Area which is located 9 miles southwest of Julian, CA on state Hwy 79. All runners are reminded the 2016 event will start at 6:00am PDT on Friday, June 3, 2016 with the completion cutoff of 32 hours ending on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
The 2016 event will again have a Solo Division to recognize all runners who opt to run the entire race without the support of a crew or pacers with spectators only allowed to meet Solo runners at the start and finish line. All finishing Solo runners will receive special awards to include a unique belt buckle. Solo runners will have to rely on their drop bags and the aid stations for all support. Solo runners are allowed to run with other registered runners but must rely on themselves (drop bags) and aid station volunteers throughout the entire race.
