The Tuscobia Winter Ultra is a run, bike or ski event held on the Tuscobia State Trail in Northern Wisconsin... in the middle of winter. There are two race distances: 160-mile or 80-mile. The 160-mile race is a qualifying event for the Iditarod Trail Invitation (ITI). The Tuscobia Winter Ultra will again be providing a paid entry ($1,200 value) to a 150-mile race winner. Registration Limits

200 total; 100 in each distance. No refunds. No registration swaps. No waitlist.

Special information for 160-mile events

160-mile racers must have previous winter and endurance experience that represents they are capable of safely completing the event. Your registration may be revoked should you not have the required experience. Unless you have previously completed one of the following events, you must contact the RD before you register: Tuscobia 160/80, AH135, ITI 130/350, Actif Epica, Yukon 100/300, Susitna 100, White Mountains 100, Alaska Mountain Wilderness Ski Classic.

Race start time and date

Note: complete information on start/finish locations and other logistics will be posted on the race website in August 2016. The race HQ will be in Rice Lake, WI.

- 160-mile run & ski start 6:00 am Friday, January 6, 2017
- 160-mile bike start 6:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2017
- 80-mile (all) start 10:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2017.


All distances are unsupported (no crews or pacers). There will be mandatory checkpoints, which may be heated and will have basic food/beverages. Both distances have gear requirements. Please visit the race website for details and ensure you are prepared to have the required gear before you register for the race. You will not be allowed to start the race if you do not have all of the required gear.
