Important Race Update
We truly regret to relay the following information, however, we were informed just this morning that Toro County Park will remain closed beyond the October 16 race date. Due to this, we are being forced to cancel this year's event. Despite the Soberanes Fire being near full containment, firefighting crews continue to occupy the park. Even if they are to vacate the area prior to the 16th, the park and trails will not be able to accommodate the Toro Loco event.
We are as disappointed as you and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this causes. Despite being reassured by the park several times that they would be able to accommodate this date, the difficult to contain fire pushed the park closure far beyond their expectations. All currently registered participants will automatically receive credit to any future Inside Trail event in the amount of their registration fee. We have 4 more great events this calendar year in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, and will be back in the Monterey Area for our Fort Ord Trail Run and Ordnance 100K on February 4, 2017. We hope that you can join us.
Toro County Park is located six miles from downtown Salinas, and 13 miles from the Monterey Peninsula. First opened to the public in 1971, the park’s 4,756 acres have been a haven for thousands of visitors. The park is also home for many types of wildlife including deer, coyote, and a rare mountain lion or golden eagle. Toro’s pastoral setting makes it the ideal place for a trail run.
