Black Butte Ranch presents the 4th annual TRI for FUN Triathlon!
This all-ages event is a guaranteed fun time. It is a short, sprint-distance event designed to be a great introduction to competing in a triathlon. The TRI For Fun is an incredible opportunity to try a triathlon for the first time, or just have fun in a competition with your family and friends! This year we are introducing a relay, so now you can race the whole thing yourself or put together a team of three! One swimmer, one cyclist, and one runner.
All ages are welcome on teams and individual categories.

All racers arrive to stage their gear, get a bike check and sign in between 6:45 and 7:45am. Race breifing begins at 7:45, and the first wave of swimmers starts promptly at 8am. There will be time for warm up swimming.
Because the swim leg is in a pool the race is run in a format requiring waves of swimmers at the start. Swimmers will be placed with others of similar ability. Each racer then moves on to bike and run, in that order. The race consists of a 275 meter swim, 15k bike ride and a 5k run.
Pricing begins at $30 per person. $20, for 12 and under
After May 15 prices go up, and another price tier is introduced on June 1. There is no day-of registration
T Shirts are included with registration until May 1. Otherwise race shirts will be available for purchase at the event. Quantities will be limited.
What To Expect
Is this your first triathlon? Welcome! We're happy you're here and we aim to do everything we can to make it a fun experience. You will be challenged, no doubt, but preparation is the surest way to a successful completion, and more importantly, having a good time.

A few things to note: Make sure you take the time to prepare your body, gear, and your mind well before the race.
Race day is not the time to wear new equipment or apparel. Make sure you've tested and broken in your gear well beforehand.
Some gear items that are recommended: Water or sports-drinks in bike bottles that you can stage for each transition, sunglasses , sunscreen, lip balm, anti-chafe product, swimsuit, swim goggles, nose clip, swim cap, bike shorts, towel, snacks for energy, good socks, broken-in running shoes, bike, bike repair kit that you know how to use (tubes, tire levers, multi tool, chain tool), changing mat & warm clothing for pre- and post race.
Bike helmets are required to race.
Eat a healthy dinner the night before and light breakfast on race day.
On race day, make sure that you are in prior to 8am so you don’t miss the race briefing, and you have plenty of time to get a bike safety check by the team by the Blazin’ Saddles shop tent, and stage your gear, stretch, warm up, etc.
6:45am Sign-in (show up as early as you like to stage your gear, we just won’t be ready for you until 6:45)
7:45 Race briefing
8:00 First wave starts.
10:30 Breakfast is served (Racers and volunteers only)
11-11:30 Depending on final finishers awards and raffle will take place around 11:00am
