This Event Took Place Sat. Dec 14, 2013

2015's 50k will be SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12TH. Check-in at the start/finish ONLY, and only on race-day morning beginning at 7:00 AM. 50k race starts at 8 AM. Post-race, we'll have a great spread, with fresh, hot pizza and other tasty fare, a variety of beverages including local beer, and live bluegrass as runners finish. Tough trails, scenic viewpoints, and the opportunity to hang out all weekend in one of Washington's most gorgeous State Parks surrounded by a fantastic crew of trail-runners/volunteers will leave you asking yourself: Why run anywhere else?

The Deception Pass 50k (and its sister race, the Deception Pass 25k) boast dramatic trailscapes you simply won't find anywhere else. Tidal flow and whirlpools result in standing waves and rolling eddies, and you'll have a front-row seat for all of it. Running nearly every inch of fun single track Deception Pass State Park has to offer, you'll stride over Deception Pass Bridge, through dense old growth forest, on beach fronts and grassy seaside bluffs. We think you'll find this a nearly perfect way to wrap up your year, and start looking forward to the next race season.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED A DISCOVER PASS TO PARK AT DECEPTION PASS STATE PARK (where the race starts & finishes, and where the post-race festivities will be occurring, and where the bunkhouses are. THIS PARK IS DAILY PATROLLED, and park authorities will issue tickets, so please purchase your annual pass ($30; you can buy online ahead of time), or your day pass ($10/day) in advance of arrival. Trust us when we tell you the annual pass is far less expensive than a ticket for not having one will be. As a bonus, every time you purchase a Discover Pass, you're supporting Washington State Parks!

Just like at our Orcas races, we'll have group lodging options for the weekend, at Comet Bay Environmental Learning Center, in Deception Pass State Park. Located on Comet Bay Road, about 0.3 miles east of Highway 20, on the left-hand side of the road across from Quinn Drive.

Bunkhouse lodging prices for 2015 will be $75 (+ tax/fees) per person for three nights - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. That's a steal at $25/person/night, and includes bunk-style accommodations, bathrooms, showers, and electric heat. There's also kitchen access, with utensils, dishes, a walk-in refrigerator and a freezer. You'll need to bring your own bedding (sheets, blankets, or sleeping bags), pillows, toiletries, and your own food and drink, as well as firewood if you want to use the wood stove in the main lodge. You'll also need to bring your communal spirit of adventure.

Please note: Bunkhouse lodging is one price no matter how many nights you're staying, and there are no refunds or transfers on bunkhouse lodging or any other race add-ons.
