This Event Took Place Sat. Jan 11, 2014

Course Description

Predominantly single track trail with some technical rocky sections. This is wild horse country. If you don't run into some wild horses, you will definitely run into some wild horse manure! Previous routes for both distances have been lollipop loops. Might change it up this season, we'll see. As usual with this series, the 5K will stay a 5K no matter what the conditions are. The 10K+ will get stretched out a little further if conditions are favorable. Check for updates the week before the run.

Registration

This run is part of a series where every run is just $20, $10 for students. Patagonia 3/4 zip technical event shirts are an additional $45 and optional. The last day to order a shirt will be February 1st so that they will be ready for the Love Can Be Cold run on February 14. Shirts will not be offered after that date. There is a $5 procrastination fee for all race day registrations($25, $15 for students). Same day registration is cash or card only, sorry no checks. Appreciate your understanding on that one. Minors who register race day must have a parent or guardian present to sign participant waiver and release of liability, assumption of risk and indemnity agreement.
If you have not pre-registered through this site and plan on registering the morning of the run please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start time so that we can get everyone entered into the timing system and not delay the start of the run. Thank you!

Update 1/4/15

The extended forecast is looking sunny and mild for the week with a high of 52 for Saturday. There is still some snow on the course but it is melting fast. The 5K course as of now is 4 miles. If you signed up for the 5K and that is too far for you let me know and I will try and connect some other trails with it to see if I can make it closer to 3.5 miles or a true 5K. There are 3 things every runner should know about Ascent Runs WTS 10K+ courses; if there is snow we will run through it, if there are hills we will run up them, and if weather permits us to run longer we most certainly will! The 10K+ course as of now looks to be around 8 miles. Still haven't settled on an exact route yet but come prepared to run/walk/hike around 8 miles. Expect to run through anything and everything in this area. There are lots of rocks, a little bit of snow, mud and sand and a whole lot of wild horse manure!!!

Series Information

This is the third of 5 trail runs in the 6th Annual Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series presented by Ascent Runs. These casual runs were created to keep runners and walker motivated through the winter months and also as a way to supplement your winter training. This series highlights the extensive trail networks surrounding Carson City, NV. There are no aid stations out on the courses so be prepared to carry your own water or sports drink. For the safety of all runners and to keep you guessing, event organizers reserve the right to change course routes and distances based on weather conditions or just for the heck of it. This series is a great trainer for the Escape From Prison Hill Half Marathon and 10K to be held on April 18, 2015.
