Centennial Slug It Out

Centennial Park

Carson City , NV 5km , 10km

This Event Took Place Sat. Jan 11, 2014

Course Description

Predominantly single track trail with some technical rocky sections. This is wild horse country. If you don't run into some wild horses, you will definitely run into some wild horse manure! Previous routes for both distances have been lollipop loops. Might change it up this season, we'll see. As usual with this series, the 5K will stay a 5K no matter what the conditions are. The 10K+ will get stretched out a little further if conditions are favorable. Check for updates the week before the run.

Theme

A very good friend of our running community will be turning 65 in the month of January. To celebrate this milestone we have themed this years Centennial Slug It Out event as the Dash For Medicare! Please feel free to dress up and play the part as a satire to this aging benchmark. Sorry, no senior discount given that day!

*News Update 1/8/14

OK. Just ran out at Centennial today scoping for course routes. Trails are in great shape and the weather forecast is looking good as well. The 5K will be a small loop that will have some technical sections at the beginning and at the end of the loop. The longer course will be around 8.5 miles so be prepared to carry enough water and nutrition. Please be sure to bring your bib number you were assigned at a previous run in the series. New runners can pick up bibs and shirts the morning of the run. Registration is available the morning of the run but includes a $5 procrastination fee. Everyone must check in before the start so that we have an accurate count to who is out on the course. Don't forget that this years Centennial run has a theme as we salute a fellow comrades 65th birthday and their "Dash for Medicare". Please be sure to read all the information on this webpage so that the only surprise race morning is where exactly you are running!
Also, Bread of Life Mountain Ministries will have a donation box for old shoes. They can be any type of shoe not just running shoes. Please contribute if you can, it will be much appreciated.
