Location Change

The Love Can Be Cold run on February 6 has been changed to the Prison Hill Recreation area which can be accessed at the intersection of Koontz and Edmonds Dr.. Start times will remain the same, only the location has changed.

Epson Runsense watch field testing

Registration

This run is part of a series. Registration is $20/event, $10 for students. There is a $5 procrastination fee for all race day registrations making it $25, $15 for students. The student rate is reserved for those 25y/o or younger who are actively enrolled in school full time, middle school to college.Patagonia long sleeve midweight technical shirt can be purchased separately. Shirts are optional, but once you see one you will want one! Last day to order a shirt will be February 29th so they will be ready for the last race in the series C-Hill, Run Hill, Ice on March 12. Shirts will not be offered after Feb. 29th. Cash or cards only for race day registration, sorry no checks. Minors who register race day must have a parent or guardian present to sign participant waiver and release of liability, assumption of risk and indemnity agreement.
If you have not pre-registered through this site and plan on registering the morning of the run please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start time so that we can get everyone entered into the timing system and not delay the start of the run. Thank you!

Course Description

Single track and double trail located within Prison Hill Recreation Area. The 5K may extend out to be 4 miles. The 10K+ will probably be between 7-8 miles. Course distances and routes are subject to change due to weather and trail conditions. Check back for updates or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Series Information

This is the fourth of 5 trail runs in the 6th Annual Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series presented by Ascent Runs. These casual runs were created to keep runners and walker motivated through the winter months and also as a way to supplement your winter training. This series highlights the extensive trail networks surrounding Carson City, NV. There are no aid stations out on the courses so be prepared to carry your own water or sports drink. For the safety of all runners and to keep you guessing, event organizers reserve the right to change course routes and distances based on weather conditions or just for the heck of it. This series is a great trainer for the Triple Trail Challenge- Spring Edition. The Triple Trail Challenge includes Carson Canyons Half Marathon on April 2, 2016, Escape From Prison Hill(EFPH) Half Marathon on April 23, and the Silver State Half Marathon on May 21.

Prison Hill Recreation area located in Carson City. Access is at the intersection of Koontz and Edmonds Dr.. Runs start at 9AM

Awards

No awards. Just the sweet satisfaction that you overcame the urge to sleep in on a cold winter morning and to go out and burn off some calories that were feeling way to at home.

Packet Pickup

Bibs can be picked up at event site on race day. All runners must check in prior to race start even if you have pre-registered to confirm presence, bib# and distance .

Weather

We'll see what mother nature has in store for us this week. Maybe this Sundays snow will melt off by Saturday.

Directions

From Reno: Take 580 S. to the very end. Turn left onto Fairview Dr. Make you second right onto Edmonds Dr. across from the National Guard Armory. Koontz Lane should be about a mile down. Turn left onto the dirt road and head up towards the water tank.From Carson Valley: Take 395 north to Koontz Lane in south Carson. Turn right and take Koontz to the very end. Cross Edmonds Dr. onto the dirt road and head up toward the water tank.

Parking

Should be plenty of parking. Please park nose in to maximize space. Thanks.
